I started working on cutting the steel angle to reinforce the comping boxes today. Mild steel is so much easier to work with than the aluminum I used on the trailer. Saw blades and files aren't fouling up. I can use cutting discs and grinder discs without gumming them up of having them bind in the material. The work is going much faster and easier. Who knows, I might even get a box or two done before we go camping. Well, at least the basic fabrication. The priming and sealing will have to wait.

With a ham radio club picnic tomorrow and drill on Sunday and Monday, there is no way I'm going to get all four done before Wednesday.

I’ve heard that putting soap on sawblades and grinders will stop them from loading up when cutting aluminum. I think there’s a special compound for it too.

Next up.. cleaning the cadillac a little bit for a 'showing' later on In the afternoon (hopefully).

Recent events with certain people who shall not be named have unfortunately forced my hand.. so im selling a metric merde-load of my stuff (dreams, aspirations, hard work ) to stack some cash & take my damn life back.

I AM gonna treat myself a little bit though.. dream beams for the '96 will be on their way to my doorstep by the end of the month

Went to the local offroad park. They put on a good show today with a bounty hill competition. Video coming in a few days. Top prize was $5,000. 2nd and 3rd also got money.

This guy made a second attempt to get the best time. Oops.

This young lady had the slowest time. But she made it to the top. There was also a money prize for her and she deserved it.

I don't have metal blades for either of those. Most of the work was done with a hack saw and files since the angle grinder didn't like an aluminum diet. The Dremel type tool didn't like playing with aluminum either not matter what pit I chose to use.

Busy day, built a screened frame to go in the sliding doorway of the chicken house, so now over 1/2 of the north wall is ventilation. Easily removable for cleanout and sliding door still shuts for rain or high winds. Also made a partitioned off pen inside the bird area for the newer chickens. Their mini-feed trough I was using as a pen was getting too small and even though they are 2-3 months from fully joining the older birds they can get to know each other then when its time I just take apart the frames covered with hardware cloth. Sure looked odd coming home from lowes with 8 10’ 2x4’s strapped to the trailer but they darn sure wont fit in a escape.

Pictures as promised. Some of the completed fabrication and some of a bin before the modifications. The "completed" bin is 5# heavier than before. Not surprised since steel isn't light but I needed the additional strength rigidity of the steel over aluminum.

You don't need metal blades to cut aluminum on a table saw or circular saw. Use a carbide blade with as many teeth as you can find. Slow input speed and spray the blade every few seconds as you ease into it. I've cut 3/4" aluminum plate on a tablesaw this way. Stand at the side of the blade and use a push stick and safety glasses and face shield. Personally I don't like gloves when using a table saw or circular saw, but your choice.
My boss didn't believe I could do it and walked away all agog after...

Going camping tomorrow and you'd think I was getting ready today but not really...

Started the day helping my brother get a combine to his place from the previous owner... started a little after 10AM, got there and had to put the battery charger on it to get it started, fiddled around checking things making sure it was ready for the 15 mile drive checking tire pressure and fluid levels. Tried adding brake fluid and it was squirting out of a rust hole in one line by the brake cylinder on one side... conveniently this is a hydrostat model so not a big deal... made the 45 minute drive without too much issue, pulled over a couple times for traffic to pass on the narrow road. Got home about 4 after helping get the other header off the trailer...

That's where the fun began, the U joints on the rear driveline on my F350 were worn out, I'd ordered new ones on Wednesday morning but changing 3 U joints on an assembly that's like 7' long isn't fun not to mention most of them fought with me when I was putting in the snap rings... oh and it was like 95F again so that helped a lot... The test drive was successful, then my brother came over and helped me bleed the brakes, the front bleeders are plugged and I think they have some type of valve in them? You can't push a wire through them, there's a brass insert in them... I'll order spare bleeders and hopefully find some type of cap... The test drive on that was somewhat better but doing panic stops from like 15mph ends up in some odd behavior so I unplugged the RABS actuator for now... might plug it back in but we'll see, the sensor on the rear axle does have some issues...

Did find out that both batteries on the boat still have charge so that's good, ignition even works and it still has the 3/4 tank of gas it had since new years

It is unfortunate, but It made it home from a 60mi. trip on Thursday so I’m saying good luck!

I’m surprised at the cracking on these tires. They’re Coopers, which I had good experiences with in the past. I put them on shortly before we moved here so they’re only a little over two years old.

Well the tires have been replaced, glad to have safe ones again. Just in time as we have to send my Wife's Maverick into the shop to get body damage repaired from a rear-ending so she will have something to drive.

Over the past week we took on power washing the house. The GF took on the front porch like a boss and got most of the loose paint off. Now We need to scrape it and paint. I took on the deck out back and got most of it done what a huge difference in looks.

Yesterday I bundled up a bunch of branches in the alley way behind the property for the city to take.
