hello, my name is Rick and I'm here to acknowledge my obsession with chairs....

now can you talk me down from buying a lathe from Grizzly, they are on sale thru Monday
I guess I have posted a bunch of stuff on chairs. In my defense, just for information, not whining or anything, I have a circulation/blood problem, which gives me severe leg pain on a regular basis. The choice is to lay down and die or deal with it, so I put chairs everywhere I need to do something.

A lot of the Road Ranger and the step trailer were built laying on the ground! The chairs are my crutch, and tinkering with these silly trucks is my therapy!

Put my thermostat controller in the chicken house, also added a switch so I could bypass it or shut off completely if needed. Typical sunday otherwise, cleaning the house, catching up on laundry & dishes & getting some rest in.

Made a post mount for that little brake I got yesterday so it can go in my floor receivers just so it's done, if it has a place to be used I'm more likely to use it :), if I don't like it I'll use the post for something else... Then I decided to clean up the pair of vise grips and C clamp that came in a greasy coffee can, both had rust and grime issues that was remedied with some acetone and wire brush for cleanup, the vise grips just needed some cycling and playing with pliers and they're usable. The C clamp needed a bunch of heat, oil then finally an adjustable wrench to add some more leverage. As per normal it'd been abused so I took said adjustable wrench and readjusted it :). The clamp is a bit different, has a folding handle instead of the normal sliding lever or wing nut type...

I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
I built a wall and ran a bunch of electrical in the new house.
I cut my wife’s office in half to buil her a laundry room on the second floor. I’m turning what was the 1st floor laundry room into a walk in pantry since it’s right off the kitchen.

For some unknown reason, the builder didn’t like to put lights in this house (cost). Every room has a switch when you walk in, but it controls half of an outlet somewhere in the room. Im working on changing that. I put the lights (see pics) in the office and laundry room ceilings today. I’ll probably put ceiling fans with lights in the bedrooms.

One of these days I need to post a list of all the Milwaukee stuff I’ve recently bought in the “new tools” post, but not today.

A thought:

In my upstairs, tiny, laundry closet, I put in a 16 inch deep wire shelf halfway between the top of the washer dryer, and the wire shelf that was up there about 6 feet. I tied the two together literally with wire coat hangers (very professionally), so the weight would be distributed between the bottom shelf and the top shelf. I got one of those tiny microwaves, and the 2sqft refrigerators, and an old fashioned Mr. coffee that loads from the front, not the top. The microwave, coffee, maker, and refrigerator are about eye level. Mini upstairs kitchen. If I thought about it when I was adding the second floor after the tornado, I would’ve put in a little tiny bar sink too.

Just a thought, but I don’t know how the hell I lived without it all the years before I did it!

you're preachin' to the choir. :icon_thumby:

my "chair" is one of those round things whose pneumatic function has long since expired. at least it still swivels & rolls.

at 71 (and vehemently refusing to act my age) I've had my share of issues, still have some.
at last count a couple of blown disks, cancer, huge abdominal hernia, several smaller ones, heart attack in '05, right leg at 75%.
aaannd,, a few months ago I dropped a hitch receiver on my foot. I would have kicked it but I suspected something was already broken.
trying to jump out of bed at night with a nasty leg cramp is difficult at best.
if they happen while driving it's almost panic time as my driving leg locks up.

all that being said a couple days ago I drove 5 hrs each way to the car show in St Ignace Michigan, bought a sweatshirt
and ate at a restaurant I'll never go back to. anything that involves a trip to da' Yoo-Pee is worth it.

(Yoo-Pee means Upper Peninsula, inhabitants there are You-Pers)

life is what you make it, even if it turns out to be a Rat-Rod. there were several at the show
tomorrow I'm going to buy some more C clamps so I can attempt welding some racks.
I think it goes without saying that wrenching on Rangers is therapy for lots of us.

heard any good chair jokes lately? I'm all ears, while they still work. :icon_rofl:

in all seriousness, keep moving & keep doing. best of luck to 'ya.

When I was young, I swore that when I got older, I would not complain about whatever. Unfortunately, it’s a competition I am now faced with, but I keep on chugging. I’m actually kind of amazed how many 90° plus days I’ve worked in the last few weeks. Doc put me on one of those stick in your arm, sugar monitors, and it has really been an eye-opener.

Good luck to you too!

20 years ago at least in ceiling lighting wasn't in fashion and everyone wanted lamps, for some reason fashion wins over function which is super dumb...

Kind of a "what I did this weekend" post...

Yesterday was a parade, I am in charge of the tractor events so I got to lead the charge for that.

I hauled my beast to town to stage it at my dad's shop. Earned a couple style points for my trailer dismount, usually I back the rear wheels off and go hard to starboard and get the front wheels on the left ramp. No, this time the front wheels just freaking slide to the left as I came off, I would have had to let go of the one brake I managed to catch to try for both so I rode it out. Rear right tire was only like 8" from the ground when the ramp kicked out. You can see the big swirl mark from the front tires sliding on the trailer deck.

Parade line up shenanigans.

He is the third generation to sit on that toolbox lid... its a common perch for kids. I

My motley crew in the parade.

We had about 25 tractors, not everybody hung around for the show afterwards.

And then today we went on a tractor ride for about 10 miles to a museum for breakfast.

Not sure what was going on on the trailer fender...

And we are off...

My wife's view as she brought up the rear with my truck.

Made it!

Then I got my two little helpers to get the ramps on the trailer so i could cheat and just throw the tractor on the trailer and set sail for home (not counting loading unloading it takes the complete trip home from 2rs to about 20 minutes)

Almost set to take off for home.

Time to make a center ramp?
Wheels were straight when they slid, I don't start turning until the rear tires are on the ground.

We have a center one, it doesn't stow under the trailer and is heavy. It wouldn't have helped me much here. I was more worried about coming off the ramps with the rear tires and laying it on it's side/top.

Very jealous! Looks like a fantastic event, and fantastic people. Just a tiny hair different than what we have here in Atlanta, but there are good people everywhere. You should be very proud.!
