yeah, I know but my drums look ridiculously small enough with 15” rims, and then theres the weight issue, im already running 4.10s and I might have to regear again since im powered by a 100 hp 2.3 Maybe I need a 302 swap.
Why stop at 302? Why not shoehorn a 460 in there? Hmm, I wonder what the biggest engine that would fit in a Ranger engine bay would be.....

Dream for me is to shoehorn a BMW M60 or M62 V12 into a first gen.

A man can dream.

Buy a plasma cutter, remove dashboard, cut out the entire firewall --> mid-front engine. It could be done, but it wouldn't be easy.

Took old green into tires plus yesterday and instead of getting it and driving it today after getting my license today turns out I got news she's getting 4k of work and I'm getting her back tomorrow.....sad now because the trucks max possible retail is only 2k something 😔 But she still makes me happy.....so I'll post back the whole 9 yards they did.....
I'd like to know what costs $4k and will be done in a day? Sounds like a shop is trying to get one over on you or whoever is paying the bill. What are they doing?

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

Earth mover tires on gold-plated rims? Oh, wait. That would cost a lot more.

built, not bought
maybe complete front suspension rebuild, ball joints, steering parts, wheel bearings, rotors, calipers and brakes. still seems like a stretch to hit 4K, even with labor. but it could all be done in a day.

You mean it wanders and feels loose and worn out like all other Rangers?
Ha ha!

I’ve only had Rangers with rack and pinion and they never did that. I have driven some trucks with the old style steering boxes. Those did wander quite a bit. The new Ranger doesn’t wander.

I’ve heard it said it is possible to shoe horn a 7.3 into a Ranger. Never seen it myself but such a beast is supposed to exist.

I've seen the 460 (7.5L) in a 1st gen Ranger before. It's a mess to do though. The frame rails ended up being hacked to death, and I wouldn't want to own one like that myself..

Did a quick road trip from LA to Vegas to pick up the roll bar. The truck did well for the 4 hour drive. Will make the trip back once I finish a couple more cocktails.

Some hack frame rails doing 302 swaps... there is some variance on swappers.

Did an oil change today and greased all of the ball joints, and u-joints, etc.. I noticed this crack in my oil filler neck. The next time I think about it, I'm gonna clean it up with some brake cleaner and smear some gasket sealer on it.. It didn't appear to be leaking any major amounts of oil. It's wet from me wiping it down with an oily rag..

I decided I might as well replace the cruise control pods also. I've had them in the glove box for like 2 or 3 years now. lol

New-ish on the left, old on the right..

Yes, that may be, but fitting the 460 is a whole different animal..

I started on replacing the water pump, but I'm having the typical problem with the Duratec water pump not wanting to come out. It's too hot to fool with it right now, so I'll try again when it is cooler.

Not trying to tell you your business... but putting down a couple more cocktails before driving 4 hours home just doesn't sound right to me. Be safe out there.
