My credo
I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
It was actually a Motorcraft brand filter. FL-400s something like that. I've probably done about 200-300 oil changes in my life and never had an issue with free spinning then the half turn but apparently something loosened up this time around after 3000 miles. So far I am not seeing the oil leaking like it was before so it must have been the loose oil filter.

Installed a battery blanket heater and engine oil pan heater. I discovered, to my disappointment, that the oil pan for the transmission is plastic. So, no oil pan heater for it. Maybe in the future, someone will make an aftermarket metal one.

Changed the oil and washed it. This would be the 37th time I've changed the oil since it was new. Every 5000 miles. Do the math.

How did you wash the oil?

Drove it to Sutter Creek for a tour of Knight Foundry, then drove over the hill to Jackson for lunch and spent some time walking around the park surrounding Kennedy Gold Mine.

Found , procured and installed the front oem license plate bracket . Also finally got the pencil braces for the front mud flaps . The part for 4x4's was obsolete so I took the chance and ordered the 4x2 brace and they fit perfectly so I'm not sure what the difference would have been . Now I have an extra set of flaps because I kept them too long to be able to return . I may try to list on craigslist . I am attaching pics of the part numbers on the pencil braces that I bought in case anyone else is trying to find them . I think I paid about $12 each .

Finished the light bar. Wow. It's like turning on the sun. I think I can aim it a little bit higher. But the distance is good. This bar is combination flood and spot. I'll do a review and installation article later. The phots don't show it. But that thing was lighting up some trees way off in the distance.

Born and raised in Texas , so unlikely . I've just learned to deal with it . Not going to admit I may be a little OCD but to me the details matter . :icon_cheers:

get outta my way, I'm falling!
replaced both upper control arms on the 2000. noticed the pads were almost gone so I did those too.
while pumping the pedal to tighten the calipers it seemed kind of soft, then the wiffie noticed a puddle behind the drivers side front wheel.
inspection revealed a brake line that was rusted enough to crack when I moved it to change the bushing bolt.
the good news is this happened in the driveway while on jackstands, not while driving.
the better news is it pushed me to the realization that depending on a 19 year old Ranger, and another with 360,400 miles on it
for reliable daily transportation was no longer a good idea.
even better news is that there is now a new 2019 Edge SEL in the driveway.
the best news is now I can really rip into one of those Rangers and have lots of quality time in the garage.

I did test drive a Ranger, really liked it, but rebates and "family-able" made the Edge a better choice.
