Is there a thread like this already? I haven't located one.. If not, can we get a sticky? If there is a thread like this already, then please delete this mods..

I'll start..

Yesterday I got my 97 front beams blasted apart for my beam/brake swap on my 87. I'll also be making brackets to use larger Sport Trac rotors and installing all new bushings in the pivots as well as the radius arm bushings. I've had $900 in new parts laying around for a month now. Time to make use of them! (rear gear swap on my Torsen coming too)

I made some good progress today. I went over both beams and radius arms with a knotted wire wheel to remove all of the scaly rust, oil/grease, and loose powder coating or paint.. I picked up my new primer and paint, and scored a 50lb bag of coal slag for blasting. I'll just mix it with my garnet media as it seems to be a similar size.

I still have to remove the rotors and ball joints from the spindles to blast everything with my homemade media blaster but we have a bunch of rain coming so that will slow me down. In the meantime I have to locate 2 new ball joint pinch bolts. Mine were in pretty bad shape and it's amazing they didn't break. I may have to go through a local Ford dealer on those. (EDIT: I just got a pleasant surprise. I went through my new parts and the Moog ball joints came with new pinch bolts. Hell yes! No searching..)

Today's progress was just pre-cleaning in preparation for media blasting.

I've seen one like this on FRF, I think. I'm down.
Last the weekend I scored some clear corners for my truck. Got them taped up and gonna spray tint them this weekend. I'll post pics later.

Yeah, I remember one on another forum, but not on the KING of Ranger enthusiast websites... I figured why not.

Hopefully it takes off and a lot of people get involved.

I drove it around the barn lot to knock the mud off the tires, farthest it has driven since last July.

I put the seat back in it to make it easier to move around and discovered I need a new distributor tonight. :cautious:

What's wrong with your current distributor?

The wires coming out of the thing are frayed, if you bump them wrong the truck dies like you shut the switch off.

I am researching options right now, I might be able to just replace the pickup coil (which costs half as much as a distributor)

My world is filled with stuff that needs to be fixed
Drove it to work and noticed that wheel bearing drone I had not heard before. All the classic symptoms, sounded like the right front. Lifted that wheel when got home - yup, it's time to do that side now too.

This thing must have sat a bit before I bought it, and now that I'm driving it every day a few things like wheel bearing are going t!ts up quickly. I hope that process slows down soon!

Lead, Follow or get out of my way
I did a full synthetic 5w30 oil change with a Motorcraft filter. Retorqued my new wheels. Got out the PB Blaster and sprayed down my rear axle U bolts, shock bolts front/rear and torsion bar hardware. I'm thinking I might get a chance to install my old man emu leaf... tweak the torsion bars and put my new KYB's on this weekend.

What I do know... it was a really nice day today.

A legend to the old man, a hero to the child...
Pulled it back up in the barn to go another round on trying to figure out why it keeps losing power/flooding.

Atleast i thought it was flooding, as did my mechanic, but when i pulled the plugs i didnt see any signs of it. But thats how it acts.

Assuming it passes compression (which i think it will) its getting 6 new injectors, new intank pump/sender, and new FPR. As well as fixing the y pipe to cat gasket.

If that dont take care of it i give up.

I yelled at my fuse box for 11 minutes, gave up trying to trace the short that keeps messing with my battery and just installed a priority start box. Finally got around to installing my oil pan heater just in time for spring. Then started trying to put a tint strip on my winshield, failed twice and threw the roll of tint at a bird and went inside to get drunk... So If anyone needs half a roll of tint there's one laying by my bird feeder.

I looked at it through the kitchen window past the B2.

But I'm not planning to even go outside until about noon. It's cold now, gonna get warm this afternoon.

I was going to take her for a drive yesterday, but my left knee started acting up again and I couldn't handle the clutch.

I backed out on painting the clear corners black. Don't know what direction I want to go, but I do know I'm ditching the Orange corners. Free to whoever wants to pay shipping.

Today i cleaned grape soda vomit off my floor from my neice. The truck actually smells better now.

Tomorrow I want to try to remove and clean the seat belt retractors but removing all the trim does not look easy so that may end in me giving up and getting drunk.
