Ya'll still gettin' COVID-19?

🤔

at this point in time, I think you would have to go out of your way to get it.
I got it again for Christmas. It was more like a cold than anything the 2nd go around. It doesn't help that people still haven't learned, or are too self centered, that if you are sick, stay the F____ home.

With a kid in daycare it finds you.

Kinda happy we lasted over two years before anyone caught it in our house.

If it's not broken Don't Fix It!
Used the beer fetcher to fetch 10 2x6x10' pressure treated boards to replace a few boards on the GF's deck. The things that get put on the honey do list get done but I can't seem to find the end of the list... :dntknw:

the grey-t escape
took off the 225/70/15’s & put on the 235/75/15’s, took off my rear coil helper springs from the back axle & lowered the butt 1”, really helped the ride quality. lowered the air pressure to 28 psi since Im running empty & the cap isnt on right now. Got gas & checked mpg, got a observed best of 22 mpg. I dont check milage that often, at times it’s pointless. Like during the winter or when Im towing something. Lately I mostly drive it back & forth to work since the HHR has some sort of death rattling going on and might be ready to spit out a timing chain & most of the valves. I parked it a couple of weeks ago after I went looking for a exhaust rattle & found it to be a internal rattling going on. I have enjoyed being back in the ranger again on a daily basis.

What's the worst that could happen?
Went to the pull yard last week - twice - to pick on a 94 Ranger Splash that was in pretty good condition 'cept for the right rear which got whacked pretty good. Probably the reason it ended up there. Anyway got a few things I needed and a few I didn't just cause they were there.
Headlights, parking lamps, Cruise Control servo/solenoid, hood blanket (can't believe the difference it made in heat transfer), one taillight assy, right front fender, air intake snorkel, other assorted bits and peices.

Having fun putting the pieces on a little at a time.

Changed the oil.
Anyone else use full synthetic?
I do. Nothing special. Usually whatever full synthetic oil change package with a good filter is on sale. Often Valvoline full synthetic.

Yes. I use Amsoil Signature series with the Amsoil oil filter. Very happy with both.

I don't know who makes Amsoil's oil filters (I've heard Champ makes some), but the one for the 4.0 is pretty robust compared to some others. I don't think it's good to feel the metal easily bend when you squeeze an oil filter with your fingers, but I've run into that on some others.

Also using Amsoil Signature gear lube in the rear axle.

Good to hear. 😎
I have no idea if it helps but it makes me feel that it's protecting the timing chain guides a little better.

Hauled trash with it. Was fun to get out but didn't feel too good after being in the heat.

Finally got the WOT relay snipped out of the a/c harness though.

Based on the engines I had that needed lash adjustments, it makes a difference. Cheap synthetic has less varnish in the engine than petroleum oil leaves. Amsoil leaves the inside of the engine looking brand new.

If was only maintaining one vehicle, I would probably still be using Amsoil. With three vehicles getting oil changes twice a year, that makes a real wallop on the wallet.

@Saddle Tramp, I use Mobil1 high mileage in the Ranger and Mustang and the RDX. I have done a bunch of used oil analysis that have documented that it is perfectly fine for me to run Mobil1 10k miles per oil change. And, if it ever does get real cold, Mobil1 is much better flowing than conventional oil or even Walmart synthetic (which is also very good oil) so I have less of a worry about the chain tensioners on the 4.0 sohc. (Although like others, at first cold start in the morning, I always put the gas pedal to the floor for a second to let oil pressure build before it fires.)
I have learned the hard way that Mobil1 that is not the high mileage variant does not have enough seal conditioners and it ends up allowing leaks at various random locations.

I normally run a semi synthetic I change the oil between 3k and 5k miles.

I was doing a lot of Valvonie and purolatotor because it seems that advanced auto always is having a sale.

The Napa I started going to doesn’t seem to have a free filet combo. I bought a case of motorcraft filters online and started just buying the Napa 5-30w that’s always on sale.

I did a much needed brake job. Pads on front and Pads and rotors on back.
I also replaced a bad speed sensor while I was at it.
