The perfect is the enemy of the good.
Can't do this with a Saab. Free firewood. Comes from across the street, but how hard would that be to move without the truck. Probably only impressive to me since I never had a pickup.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

Trucks are great to have. Think how many times you would have crossed the street pushing a wheelbarrow to move that wood.

Ordered the gasket set and head bolts for the 302 Ranger project. Going to try and start chipping away at that project again

Mine did that briefly with the trailer hooked up to the truck until the right taillight on the trailer completely failed. I chased wires just to be sure. everything checked fine right up to the light itself. Being LED and everything internally coated in epoxy, troubleshooting stops there and at $15 for a new light unit, new tail light it is.

Left the old Ranger sitting at home that's what I did with my Ranger today LOL. Well honestly it sits at home most of the time except I use it for weekend DIY stuff and around the property as a utility vehicle. Its nice having a small pickup again, and almost 2 years since I picked it up, its paid for itself several times over, even though I put a couple thousand bucks into brakes, wheels, tires, water pump, battery, and AC service, its turned out to be a nice little run around DIY project pickup. This past summer it got quite the workout moving dirt/sand/gravel around with my utility trailer, and hauling DIY materials around.

I finally found a camper shell for it earlier this year, got it installed, proceeded to break the back window in it when one of the struts on it seized up and I broke the hinge, trying to get the rivets out of the hinge to repair it I drilled through a little too far and hit the glass instantly shattering it into tiny cubes LOL...so between the cost of the shell ($100), new window glass ($460), and new lift struts ($30), its still been a great find on that camper shell, and it don't leak, also has the boot between the cab and shell so I can leave the slider window open if I want and not get wet. Threw the bed mat back in it this past weekend, its all ready to go for winter.

I paid $800 for the truck almost 2 years ago, its a bare basic 2WD long bed 2.9L V6, and 5 speed, with AC...manual crank windows, and manual locks....pretty simple little truck and fun to drive. Had some weird stuff going on with it, finally had a member (ADSM08) recommend replacing the O2 sensor, for $44 problem solved....I get mid 20's for fuel economy on the highway, and high to low teens in town with it....can't beat it for the price, trucks like this are $4-6k now and no I'm not selling it LOL. The Bronco 2 maybe, but the Ranger nope, keeping it.

tried some green goop in the r.r. tire thats been going down on me, so far so good 24 hrs later. put my corregated plastic (old political sign) in front of the radiator & topped off the coolant & ps fluid again. Took out my receiver drawbar, should be done with towing for awhile. next need to top off the fuel tank, have about 1/2 a load of wood in the back for weight if I do need to get it out when the snow gets too deep for the hhr.

Why should I pay someone else to screw it up when I can screw it up myself for free?
Finished up the roughing out the box for my behind the seat storage project. Next is finish work, carpeting the sides, and putting non-slip rubber matting on the tops. I'm hanging a stretchy cargo net across the back wall for jackets, gloves, poncho liner, etc. where the jack storage used to be. Wide enough to hide a long gun and valuables while on the road yet the seats still go all the way back and fully recline.

I like it...

I wish I had a four door super cab... with two doors the access to that area is poor at best.

Does anyone know what triggers the reverse lights on an m5od truck? Itd be sweet if i could get mine working because i cant see crap behind me in the dark with this topper and tiny ranger mirrors. Plus im already going to be messing with the tail light wiring when this weekend to put a 4 flat plug on it.

I thought there was a switch on the side of the transmission, up top by the shifter. Right side I think.
