I’d do a free floating rocker arm mod to that but can’t speak for the quality of heads or what to do about new or repaired arms

Went to a tractor pull event today, asked the wife if she wanted to pull the '00 Explorer again and she of course said yes so I gave it a 3 minute wash with the car wash brush so we could see out of the windows on the way there since it hasn't been driven in a few months. She pulled 240ish ft down the track and we made it home. The fact that the passenger side motor mount isn't attached to the engine apparently didn't matter. Hopefully I'll get to pull the engine this winter and fix that little issue...
Torque pulls up on the drivers side. If anything I'd be worried about that side... maybe chain it down on that side if it doesnt have that little shock.
Dont mat it in reverse unless you like an outie on your hood.

Yes it's a V8 Sploder with a 4406 transfer case in it and expedition drivelines... I know it's the compression side, I'm just surprised how well it works with just the drivers side and the transmission mount...

The problem is the bolts keep breaking in the block, someone broke the stock bolts off and just left it since it was still AWD and didn't go anywhere when driving but it was for long enough to wear down the block to the point there's just too much leverage on the bolts, and I even oversized them to 1/2" from 7/16" since that's an awkward location to extract broken bolts... The block will have to come out to build up some material and make the block square again... it needs resealed anyway and I need to put the headers I've had for like 2 years on...

Did the outer tie rod end on the red Ranger, drivers side. Seems to be much more polite about going down the road now

My credo
I poop in the furnace.
I figured out how to make it more comfortable!

Went to a flea market and found a gel butt pad which I thought might help for my 12 hour ride home next week. I put it in the truck and went for a ride. It raised me up off the seat about 3 inches which at first was awkward but then I realized since my feet were higher I could move the seat closer to the wheel and still have my legs stretched out. With the seat pulled more forward I could then put the seat back more reclined (I have a regular cab so the back of the seat normally hits the rear window so it can't recline much if the seat is pushed back). Holy crap it's so much more comfortable now! I feel like I'm actually relaxed and rested in the seat instead of sitting up like I'm driving on a bar stool.

Still not quite as cumfy as the fiesta was but we will see how my back feels after the drive home. After the ride down I was in pain for 2 days and could barely walk.

Also scored a set of 16" steel rims at the junkyard for it so I can finally buy the cross climate tires I've been wanting since they don't come in 15" sizes.

Then after being happy with my cumfy seat and new rims I almost crashed into a tree and burnt it to the ground. My cigarette lighter decided to literally fly out of the socket instead of just popping up. It landed on the passenger floor on top of a pile of dirty oil soaked shirts and started smoldering while I was driving. I managed to get pulled over and started tossing burning shirts out on the road... :annoyed:

the drivers side O2 came out OK. the passenger side left some of it's threads in the pipe. the rear is a bit mangled, and still in the pipe.
the spark plug thread chaser hit a hard stop on the bungled up threads, tomorrow I'll get a real tap. 18 x 1.5

I’ll try to look later, but there’s a write up in the tech archives on here and @PetroleumJunkie412 was messing around with it awhile back and had a thread or two going

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

I'm done cutting rust! 🥳 Now I just need to goop seam sealer on and weld the cowl on. I still have some 2.9 -> 4.0 harness mystery to figure out, but I should be on the road soon!

Does anyone have insight if that small circular hole above the blower motor hole is stock or added by a p/o to apply more seam sealer?

Glad to hear the valve seals fell back into place. :icon_thumby:

It looked like most of your smoke had cleared up when you got back from town.

Today... I drove mine home.

It drove awesome both on and off the road, can't really believe it but I guess I have to.
