Never put off ‘til tomorrow what you can put off indefinitely
My yellow sub hauled in 6 days, 8 to 12 loads a day 12 bags/load of 80# sakrete thrown on my new driveway.
(I opened the bag). The pallet would not go into the bed due to the wheel wells, so it had to be hand loaded. The kids got their workout, including this old one. The broken bag deals were half price & I took advantage of those. Now the driveway is a real driveway with 3x5" recycled "RipRap" concrete for a base. Got tired of all the recycled asphalt dust. The ranger earned it's keep that month. The contractors wanted $8000 for doing it themselves, (no riprap)- I hired some guy with a little skid steer and his friend to dump 40 yards of 75% riprap/25% top cover, and then I spread the bagged concrete. 4 months after a laminectomy. Now that's what I call physical therapy. No more driveway problems, makes that new 18" culvert work!

My valve covers are leaking onto my cats and it smokes at stop lights, that's where the leak is coming from. Not as bad as the kids in there diesels however. I'll wait till it gets cooler.

Tire clowns.....200 psi on the impact and then there is the torq wrench, make sure it's set to the type of wheel & stud correctly. "click", oh it's perfect~speaking of sorry sacks.
“ …it smokes at stop lights, that's where the leak is coming from.”

It all made sense except one thing. If the stoplights are leaking down onto your valve covers, and then it drips on the cat and it smokes, why don’t you just stop somewhere that’s not Under a stoplight?

I got the fall maintenance done on the 2011. So, it's ready for the winter. Now to get the rest of the work done on the 2019 so it will be in the same status.

Test fit my brothers rear mustang wheels. Hits emergency brake cable on driver side hard. I think would look better with taller tires

Did the obligatory steering shaft boot repair as I was seeing u-joints. I was going to do another one of my "sadistic Ford engineers" posts but it turns out that if you line things up just right and have a mighty collection of ratchets and extensions, it's only mildly miserable. Looks like the factory red-locktited it which is probably smart, but with a but of rust it was tedious getting it apart. Needless to say removing it was 4x as long as fixing the boot and re-installing it. If anyone needs to do this job, the cheapo silicone universal steering rack boot worked perfectly.

I’m sure like most of you, I can change out a wheel cylinder with my eyes closed. When the left rear leaked on the Road Ranger, I just ordered a pair.

I must’ve had a premonition, the parts won’t be here until tomorrow, but I pulled the wheel off just to see.

The first odd thing was the drum slid off without any resistance at all. Then I took the pressure washer to just blow all the crud and brake fluid off, and about a third of the forward brake shoe came off. Not a big deal because I had a pair in the shed of miracles.

But as I was pressure washing, I heard a little clunk, and what looked like a 5/8 bolt fell on the ground.

Upon closer inspection, I realized it was the front holdback spring.

I don’t think the wheel cylinder failed. That spring broke, and it just let that piston move too far out.

I went into the box-O-springs in the shed of miracles, but no joy. I’ll head out later after the paperwork and try to locate one.

😤

Awwww. You sprung for some new springs.
too late to cancel the wheel cylinders. “Thee” spring was $3.50, and this set was $11. That’s how you build a shed of miracles.

It was two days ago, but I changed the oil. Fell for the marketing hype as well as Lake Speed Jr’s video and am trying the Valvoline Restore and Protect. Also use the Purolator Boss filters.

If it works up to its name I will start using it in my dad’s Volvo. The engine in there is notorious for burning oil due to deposits on the oil control ring, the exact thing this oil is supposed to remove. It may help the oil consumption more than anything else.
