Bah, that's nothing... I had at least two bushings on my '00 Explorer completely missing, once I found the situation I replaced the bushing with electrical tape (was camping at the time), drove much better . I did eventually replace the links...
For me Ranger related I pulled the '97 into the shop to pull the exhaust to figure out the exhaust leak. Jacked up the passenger side and confirmed it was coming from the catalyst. Sprayed the 4 bolts with some lube then let it cool down for a little bit and went for taking it out, to my surprise after 215k and 25 years all 4 bolts came right out with no drama... Cut off the top heat shield and found two cracks, cleaned that and welded it up then welded the heat shield back on then cut the bottom shield off and found two more cracks, rinse and repeat... The welding was successful, it's back to being super quiet, I didn't take any chances and left the hose clamps around the heat shields even though I fixed the welds that were broken... The pic of the non fixed cracks is the top and the one of the welded cracks is the bottom... Could I have done it another way? Sure, would it have been more work and $$? Absolutely...
