My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Little known fact about cats and dogs and meeses: their face whiskers grow to the width of their “practical” skull and shoulders. If the whiskers fit through, they fit through…

So if you don’t want them, just trim their whiskers..,,
Ex-mother-in-law did that to our dog once. I got pretty angry about that. Came back from a vacation trip and poor Livvy had no whiskers. I let her know in no uncertain terms that;

A. That is inappropriate to do to a dog.

And

B. It's not her dog to be defacing.

Good call on tossing the mother-in-law. Was she the mother-in-law of the “practice“ wife, or the one in the middle?

Not, NEVER, taking her side, but I bet Livvy never got stuck in the dryer vent again…

Afterthought, did she fit out the door after you cut her whiskers and gave her a swift kick in the ass?

The mother-in-law had a key and could enter and exit at will, regardless of the length of her whiskers.

In that case, a leash with a choker chain is the obvious solution

Finally hit the junkyard for that b2 rear bar. Its 1/8th larger than my stock edge rear bar (which looks the same as the stock normal ranger rear bar)

That'll probably be an improvement, but keep checking them. Some came with a 1" bar. I think I've ended up with two of those. One I bought years ago for my 84 and will be going onto my 99 with the Explorer front bar. The other I think came on the 85 Ranger. That truck isn't rear as stock or good of shape as I thought when I dropped the money, so seeing that big bar under there was a definitely surprise.

Race it - Break it - Fix it - Repeat
Got a start on the fuel plumbing job on the Ranger. EVERYTHING between the new fuel cell and the carburetor is getting replaced with AN fittings and braided hose so it's like starting from scratch at the fuel cell. Made a new mounting bracket for the filter and moved the fuel pump bracket ahead a little further on the frame. Just mocked up for now - got to take it all apart to put Teflon tape on the NPT to AN adapters before reassembly. Next session we run the new braided hose to the engine bay and get a start on all the hose sections we're going to have to put together between regulator, carburetor and fuel pressure gauge.

If it's not broken Don't Fix It!
Glued the aluminum color ring on to the shift knob for the Beer Fetcher. The double sided tape they use just isn't strong enough so I hit it with some CA+ glue. That'll hold it.
