If you haven’t had the pleasure of installing a new tank in one of these, there are a few spots that rub against the frame. I had one tank wear 3 pinholes. I bought some tape made by gorilla glue. It’s thick rubberized and I think 4” wide. I put patches of it everywhere the tank makes contact with the frame and under the straps. I think I remember seeing something similar on the factory tank but I’m not positive.
Yeah, I’m pretty sure rust and rubbing killed my steel tank. I’m kicking around the idea of putting a plastic tank in my 88 when I get back to putting it back together. I don’t believe the tank that’s in there has any problems, but it might not be a bad idea to head off any potential problems. I figured I’d try coming up with a solution to the rubbing and stuff when I tear into it, but that’s an idea.

Well, the gas tank I ordered for the Choptop a month and a half ago finally showed up…

So that will have to get taken care of soon.

Also took the green Ranger for a run to pick up a couple steel pieces to patch dad’s Ranger with.
Is that a plastic BII tank? Sweet! Glad my 01 came with a plastic tank.

Parts order came in. A few weeks ago I diagnosed a P0442 code and decided to grab a few more parts to go along with my "tune up" parts. Time for an ignition service. It's been over 10 years and about 50,000 miles. Time for winter oil and filter changes. I put less than 5000 miles a year on this old beater. So I think I'll treat her.

All of my Rangers had plastic gas tanks, including my 89 parts truck and my 92. All of my B2s had steel from the factory. Choptop is the first to get a plastic tank. Any time I have to buy a tank, I buy plastic if available. One less thing to worry about. Just make sure you have a good skid plate.

Last night's adventure coming back from my brother's bachelor part...

20230927_221118.jpg

Lost key 12v to the ignition module. Wiring issue in the rad support somewhere. Called in the calvary, got it running with a jumper wire and slowly sneaked it home. Tonight I tear into it...

Torqued the lugnuts again on the beer fetcher. Got out to NY. and realized I never did them a second time. None were loose but best to be safe than sorry.

Clutch lines. I have an FM145 with a broken plastic clutch line and the part is N/A. The slave is an internal with the bleeder and line port on top. Big hitch pin secures the line fitting. The line fitting is identical to the master end. No check valve. I have had no luck finding a supplier and have resorted to finding a work around. I want to install adapters on both the slave and master that will allow quick connect with a custom line.

Here’s my mess. Old broken line and fittings. Clutch fitting adapters. Found basically two types by a couple suppliers. The closest match has a shorter nipple and the nipple has a flare on the end

That slight flare on the end prevents it from going into the port

I grabbed a file but man was that gonna be an all day job. So I went to the grinder. I may have gotten a little carried away removing material, we’ll see how it goes.

The seals on the new adapters are a double lip vs the old round ones. They fit nice and snug as do the adapters. Im anxious to order the flexible hydraulic hose to see how this turns out. I know the nipple went past the seal so I’m expecting success

Picked up a new set of wheels, gonna slap some 35x10.5x17 Kenda RTs on them. Probably paint them and find center caps of some sort.
Also had to tow a buddies truck after his shifter got stuck in 4th due to the bushing being non existent.

For grinding round things, if it fits in a drill chuck I do that then run against a grinding wheel. It keeps it round... Also easier to sneak up on size.

Red neck, old school exhaust. Want to drive my rig around and test all the new equipment but she’s way to loud. Bought a muffler and some pipe from the local auto parts store and spend the day fitting it all together. Exiting if front of the tire, no cat, just a little rumble from the 2.8. 🤣. It’s all tacked together. Tomorrow I’ll give it my best crap welding job and take her for a cruise around the block.

Installed lift struts for the hood on the 2011. I liked having them so much on the 2019, I had to get some for the 2011.
