Got inspection done. All good except no battery hold-down so went got that - $7.
Have to remember safety inspection is just that - if something isn't safe, I want them to find it.
So I go to dealership, they take appointments, granted they are picky but wouldn't you want to know if you happened to miss something actually important?

I don't doubt it, I can't even test drive a 2022 unless I put a deposit down on one and wait 6 months for it to come in. Really on the fence. I want one and I need a new truck but the "supply & demand" games are pissing me off.

Stop by my house and you can take my wife’s Bronco Sport for a test drive, the feel pretty similar.

It might be a long drive for you just for a test drive.

If you wanted to order a hybrid Maverick you already missed it - today was the last day they are accepting orders. If you want a gas Maverick you have exactly one more day to get the order entered.

Just like foreclosures though.. if people don't have the money to make their car payment they probably don't have money to do proper servicing.

Ford says they have about 45,000 vehicles they can't complete for lack of parts. GM about 95,000. So they will sit there until the parts come, maybe next quarter. I have to imagine that must wreak havoc with assembly lines to partially build a vehicle then take it off the line, park it, then bring it back to finish. It can't help profitability/pricing.
Nonetheless you do see used prices starting to come down. But let's say I want a nice '11 Ranger, these prices are like 20k and up and it just seems somehow wrong to pay that for a 10+ yr old vehicle. Seems to me it's a good time to sit back and wait if you can.

I want an AWD Maverick... hybrid FWD is useless to me.

I am thinking that if interest rates keep going up, vehicle prices will come down or at least level off. I'm sure not going to take out a 7% loan on a car, even 3-4% (which I would probably be stuck with right now) seems high. Kinda at the point where I think I'm better off waiting a year or two and paying cash for a lightly used truck.

Frustrating part is that my '88 daily driver is being quite unreliable lately, my other choice is a gas hog V10 super duty... everything else has historic plates so I can't drive them every day.

I'm shopping for old rangers so I don't have to hack up the good example of a "low mileage" factory example I have been stuck with. Blessing and curse.
