BTW, does anyone have any idea the difference between factory and dealer AC in a 92 Ranger. I found notations of the two on some parts, but can’t actually find a difference
Compressor and bracket, expansion valve as opposed to orface tube and a translucent blue button to activate the A/C.

That is for first gens, your results may vary on a second.

My credo
Race it - Break it - Fix it - Repeat
I think I may have already asked you this, but, why a gen1 instead of an LS?
I've had small block Chev parts hanging around since my Stock Eliminator days back in the mid 70s. At 71 years old I'm also too set in my ways to change now LOL

Ok, my concern was for the condenser. The place I settled on to buy it from had it listed as factory AC for Explorers but only dealer AC for Rangers. Near as I can tell there was never a difference and if it’s factory for Explorers, it should be the same for Rangers. The 92 had factory air, just someone removed the compressor and cut the lines before I got it. I’m trying to put it back together since the motor I’m swapping in already had a compressor on it. Since I have no idea how much crap got in the condenser or if it’s even good, it’s getting replaced.

Got a few more things buttoned up on the 92 between rain. Wish I could find the information I came across awhile back on the automatic transmissions, something about how a shift kit and some other tweaks can improve reliability and performance out of the A4LD and it’s decedents the 4r44/4r55/5r55. Since I changed the torque converter with new fluid, I’m feeling like maybe I should do fluid and filter and the tweaks and just do the whole job right instead of only half

I am not sure on the condenser. I have never seen a difference in hoses though.

Dropped the fuel tank, bent the fuel sender, drilled three holes in the frame and reinstalled the fuel tank.

Worked on the red Ranger and it fought me the whole time. Made some progress but spent more time fighting with it and having to fetch tools that I didn’t use when taking everything apart. The last straw was when I was tightening the nuts on the starter for the wires and the solenoid on the starter broke. I put everything away and called it a night before other things got broken

Giving my truck more money than it deserves.
Moved the Bronco to my father's shop so I can work on it long after dark.

The tow hooks I added make it so much easier to strap down.
