I did the throttle cable Ty-Rap hack. It absolutely turned it into a new truck again. Throttle response, power, trans shifting, even kickdown are all vastly improved. I should have suspected something when I could slip my cable off the throttle body spool. I even found I could adjust it some by rotating one the 3 cable ties. I put the middle cable tie on from the opposite direction and needed to move it to where all 3 clinching sections were not side by side which made the idle a bit high. Idle is normal and there's still some minor slack in the cable. What a great cheap fix, now if I can just get my old back to recover from the gymnastics required to get under there. Another TRS Forum Tech Section success story!
I did that years ago. I either found it here, or at Ranger Power Forums. Anyhow, yeah, it makes a nice difference in throttle response. Funny, when I had to have Ford FLASH the new computer, in early 2017, t hey took the tie-wrap off the throttle arm. When I got it back home, put a new one on first thing. Throttle pedal felt sloppy without it. I just had it changed to 4.1 axle gears, and that is a big improvement as well. Going to change my Mustang to 4.1 here soon, at the same time replacing the auto trans with a stick.

I drove my 2001 Ranger 3.5hrs away to Chicago Saturday to pick up a new dual tank bedside for my 1987 V8 truck. I'm slowly gathering panels for my paint job..

So far I have two like new doors, two repop front fenders, one bedside, a spare bed, and an almost new tailgate that was removed from a truck around 1992 and stored..

Got the 2011 back on the road yesterday. Hub assembly changed, brakes inspected and tires rotated.

Things that are grease able have been greased. Just need to change the oil and smog the neighborhood with seafoam.

Just the right size to touch the ground.
Left it sitting at the local Acura dealer. Haven't driven it since Wednesday. These 48 hour test drives are awesome. First a 2017 BMW 540i Sportline xDrive. Too low, too hard to get into, not enough legroom, but a sweet ride for the first 20 minutes. If I were only 3 inches shorter, 60 pounds lighter and 15 years younger, I'd have jumped on it. Now it's a 2015 Acura RDX. A big step backwards from the BMW, but I fit it better and it's a lot cheaper. I get it until Monday, bonus day for the weekend. Maybe I'll try the 2018 Ridgline next...

Normal commuting in the '97 is the only Ranger related I've done lately, I did check the oil in it the other day, and said to myself "yep, that's low, needs to be changed" then put it on the back burner... will hopefully get to that this weekend... I did just realize that the registration was expired last month, so renewed that a couple days ago. I did take my brother his 4 wheeler back the other day after I fixed it then brought mine back home, so that's something...

I've been concentrating on getting the 7500lb brick out of the shop... After I pulled the turbo a few weeks ago I decided to change the donuts on the turbo collector, one bolt came out, two broke and I had to cut one with a mini hacksaw... Being a flange head 8mm bolt in stupid awkward locations I wanted 12pt instead of the 10mm 6 point they were... Only ARP makes those bolts in a 30mm length unless I paid for shipping and $3 a bolt from McMaster Carr... Summit to the rescue with $12 for 5 bolts... tied it into a work shipment so they got free shipping :). One of the bolt holes had a cracked section on the outside, so I V'd it out and welded it up, burnt through a little and ended the life of one tap getting it fixed... Anywho, another 2 hours tonight and it's back together! Now I just gotta drain the oil and coolant to reseal the oil cooler tomorrow... and silicone the 3rd brake light since it apparently leaks... I'll see about changing all the bulbs first :)

If it's not broken Don't Fix It!
Installed the new mirrors and one of the rug strips. While cleaning out the screw heads on the second side my back started to give me issues so I'm leaving that side for another day.

Anyone need a set of the manual flag mirrors? I only changed them because I didn't like the style.

Why should I pay someone else to screw it up when I can screw it up myself for free?
I tinted my side windows today with 35% since Summer has arrived early. While the door panels were off I checked to see why the window operation and door locks on both sides were slow and intermittent. Looks like the PO must have left the windows down in a rain and the pins were corroded. Used contact cleaner and a brass brush, lubed the sliding tracks with silicon and the windows and locks are perfect now.

That was dangerous. Glad you're ok.
I have the tow package so it was well within the legal limits of the truck, trailer had brakes too so stopping was no issue.

Turns out an old high school pal works for uhaul. Super convenient.

@Blmpkn

I like the angle of the picture, makes the caprice look even bigger. Life is an adventure.

I had one for the practice wife, an ‘84, ivory cream with the wood paneling, a gorgeous car, and perfect for the two rug rats & when other kids came along to Six Flags and such. Great memories.

I remember it had an am/fm/Cb in the dash, OEM. Wish I could find one that fits in the lincolns. What a hoot.

what’re your plans for it?
