That's the thing. You don't want the bypass to open because then you are no longer filtering your oil. So filter changes before they get that clogged are important.

I'm not sure of the oil flow path. Dies it normally go "pump>filter>engine>return"? Or is the filter in the return path. I would hope filter is first thing after the pump as I put it above. So, ideally, you would want a pressure gauge between pump and filter so you can know if you're getting close to bypass pressure; ie; clogged filter. Otherwise, we're just guessing about whether or not we ever get the filter that dirty.
The bypass is always open at least a little bit. Not all oil always goes through the filter. As the filter gets more and more full of dirt and restricts more, the bypass opens more and more oil goes that way on the theory that unfiltered oil is better than no oil. For some engines you can get a bypass filter and all the oil gets filtered. I just change the oil every 5k and don't worry about it.

Not the Ranger but I changed the oil in the wife's Pacifica today. It has a belly pan that you do not have to remove, unlike my late father's Fusion.
There was a stick poking out from one of the holes in the belly pan so when I finish with the oil I go to pull it out. As I pull it, it gets wider and there is hair.
Okay, this ain't good.
Get my Channel Locks and reach up in there and pull out pieces of dehydrated squirrel stuck between the belly pan and downpipe.
"Hey Sweetie, you smell BBQ while you're driving?" She says no.
I'm a funeral director and working on dead folks doesn't bother me but that was icky.

They did until the angle grinder got ahold of the crash bars haha. Had to remove the air dam and cut about an inch deep 3 inch long knotch in the crash bar. I'm gonna order the ready lift big tire bars Friday

Another weekend of exploring and making new friends. Love how capable these Rangers can be. Guy in the 4Runner was triple locked with all the goodies. Brian in the lead has a 3 inch Ready lift spacer up fron a Deaver leaf pack in the back with stock FX4 shocks and struts on 35s and me in the back with nothing but a level kit and 33s. At the end of the day. Josh, the guy in the 4runner said " Damn I could have saved a bunch of money and bought a Ranger. "

It may not seem like much of an upgrade, but I installed one of these center console organizers I found on Amazon. Didn't like that the console was just a big open space and it seemed like there should have been a tray in it. I stumbled across this while looking for something else and just ha to have it. Love it!

I have something similar. Better than the little coin try thing that came with the truck.
I've got the one with 3 small pockets and 1 bigger one. I'll have to grab a picture. It doesn't have the coin thingy. But it has been a huge difference that just a big hole.

Went out with a group exploring here in middle TN last weekend. Was a good day to ride.

If any ever get around my area of Midddle TN and love the dirt hit me up. There are a few camping sites and just minutes from Nashville for you honky tankers. Was an interesting group. 2 Rangers 1 CRV 1 Pathfinder 1 4runner and FJ Cruiser.

Sorry about my posts being all spread out. I'm currently only accessing this through my phone since the laptop died. For some reason the pop up ads keep moving my cursor around. I'll have to start previewing them first.

I installed the rear add a leafs today. Instructions said it should take a few hours. It was a huge pain in the ass. About 4.5 hours later got it all back together. Gave me about an inch and a half of lift so no more Tennessee tilt haha. I may need to readjust the headlights. Since I aimed them so far down after the level kit was installed. But will know on the way in to work tomorrow morning

I'm generally not a big fan. Some of them like yours do give you a spot to mount a winch and lights which is awesome.. but for the most part I think the tubing most offerings use is comically large and the whole setup sticks out too far from the front of the truck for my liking. All personal preference.

How much did that run you?
