I am searching for an aftermarket air cleaner for my 1983 Ranger and I am unsure if I have a single or double barrel carburetor. What do they come with stock? Anyone have links to something that will work without issue?

Or am I overthinking this one? I feel like they sell universal ones and I am unsure of which to buy..

Would something like this work?

Any help is appreciated, thank you!

I punched in your truck at autozone's site, and pretended I was going to buy a carb for it. It says your engine has a carter yfa carb on it. I then did some web searching, seems your carb has a 2 5/16 throat on it. The most common chrome aircleaners have a 2 5/8 inch throat diameter.

See what yours measures out to be. Here's an adapter ring. https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Small-Diameter-Air-Cleaner-Adapter-Ring-2-5-16-Inch-to-2-5-8-Inch,139472.html

Thank you! I will remember this, not sure why I did not think of that!

That being said, I did a search on AutoZone and found my local shop has this in stock,

I am going to give it a whirl for $15, plus I won't need to wait for it to be shipped, and can return it if need be!

It states it fits both 2 5/8 in and 2 5/16

I will update tomorrow when I purchase and install.
