The M50dr1/r2 s a Mazda transmission. The zf s5-42/47 is not. The zf s5 is not named the m50d... that's how names work.

Awww thats cute. You found a thread where someome else mistakenly called a zf a m5. Did zf ever make a revision 2? You have a mazda transmission or dont understand how names work.

There has been rumors of a Focus based compact pickup from Ford for quite some time now. I saw some pictures of the overseas version a while back and I'd drive one. Beyond excellent fuel mileage, and you can still haul plywood, mulch, etc..

I'd still rather have this version though.

I guess I will have to practice rolling sheet metal and making fiberglass molds and build a new front end to look like an older one or similar.

Didnt the couriers run the 2.0?

I wouldnt imagine finding engine parts would be hard. Plus seein as how its mazda built im guessing the 4 speed was the TK4 ran in the early rangers.

I almost bought a courier a few years ago. It was a florida truck and some kid inheritated it when his grandpa died.

BUT, then i decided against it because i wanted to DD it and figured id get aggravated driving something that took 20 seconds to grab 60.

Some very interesting facts are listed here, especially about the early Mazda trucks. A lot of history that I didn't know..

http://www.darkforestcreature.com/Courier/Information.html

1979 the engine was increased in size to 2.0 liters (120.1 cu in) with a xxxxx bore and stroke, producing xx horsepower at xxxx rpm and xxx ft-lbs or torque at xxxx rpm. In 1977 Ford also added one of their own engines to the lineup -- the 2.3 liter engine (140.3 cu in) that was shared with the Ford Pinto and Mustang II. The Ford 2.3 liter engine was one of the first all metric engines produced in the US. An automatic transmission was also an option beginning in 1977.
