I was quoting @Ranger850 ’s size chart

1998 Ford F-150 Super Cab/Dimensions
221-244″ L x 78-80″ W x 72-75″ H

2019 Ford Ranger/Dimensions
211″ L x 86″ W x 71-72″ H
Yeah, no way the ranger is 6-8" wider.

I copied that info from the internet. Just googled F-150 specs and dimensions. Then I replaced "1998 F-150" with "2019 Ford Ranger" in the search bar. The width of the truck is not the width of the inside measurement for the bed, it's the widest part of the truck minus the mirrors, so thicker bed walls on the newer Ranger doesn't necessarily transfer to more cargo room than the old F-150. Anybody got a new Ranger AND an old F-150 for some side by side comparisons? I got a extra cab '98 F-150 I can get measurements from, but no new Ranger.

I may be able to take these measurements at some point today, there is an old F-150 and a new ranger sitting in the parking lot at my work.

  • Your mission, @Roert42 , should you choose to accept it, ... is to get measurements and possibly pictures.
  • As always, should you or any of your TRS Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This message will self-destruct in , 15 seconds. Good luck, Roert42.

There's no way on this earth that a new Ranger is 6" wider than any F150.

Also... your info lists an F150's towing capacity as 1700-2100 pounds. That should be enough to know the info is wildly flawed.

Sounds about right for a Six cylinder with a manual. My 92' was only rated for like 1600lbs towing with 300 and manual.

Sure - with a supercab and a manual you can see some really low numbers like that. But that's the absolute bottom end of the spectrum for an F150. Throw in a different engine and an automatic and you can go as high as 7700 pounds in a '98.

Is that some kind of joke?

Linking to a google search is not 'citing your sources'.

It's only a joke if you think it's funny.

This may (somehow?) be confusing to you, but that link is not what you put into post 22.

Ah, good clarification. So you moved the goal post after the fact.

Now, here's a thought... If a fact seems absolutely and utterly ludicrous (like the idea that the new Ranger is six whole inches wider than a full size truck), verify it.
Here's another link showing the width for the 2019 Ranger both with and without mirrors.

64693

And it leads to a simple conclusion - the data you posted earlier was incorrectly labelled as not including mirrors.

To be clear. I started out by saying the two trucks were not that close in size when compared, except height. I may have posted some info that isn't correct, I apologize for that. Not trying to win a pissing contest about how wide a new Ranger is compared to a 20 yo F150. I was just putting the numbers I found up so ppl could see them. I will remove the info to stop any further confusion.
