Warm up after new Timing Chain and Cam

Ive replaced the Timing Chain and Cam, I made it through my initial startup and it sounds like a gem. However I am curious about actually driving it. My but tells me to treat it like im breaking in a clutch.

But what do YOU think?

did the valve clearances remain in spec with the new cam?
does the Ford manual have a cam break-in procedure?

it's basically a mechanical flat tappet lifter setup, personally I'd keep the RPMs down for a couple hundred miles.

Yes and yes.

I followed the cam procedure, however I cant find one for a timing chain and I was curious about both repairs working in concert. Low revs for a few hundred miles was my thought too.

I'd change the oil after a mild break in time as well. Probably not necessary but there may be a small amount of metal wear in on the cam.

Cant thank you enough for all the help you provided. The Ranger is running great. Im aiming to do the oil change and im going to new plugs, cables, and coil on Monday. I gotta retap my oil pan drain hole.

The next thing im looking to do is replace the entire exhaust system. I believe I can drop a newish one of a junker and rehab it then install it hopefully without welding. So please keep an eye out for that thread
