Wanted: Coil Spring Measurements When Installed (Stock & Lifted)

Hey everyone, this is a follow up to the discussion I started at:

My 1996 Ford Ranger 4x4 sits low in the front with my Skyjacker 6-inch Suspension. I want to do some research and gather some information, and I'm hoping you can help.

It doesn't matter if you're lifted or stock:

I want to know how tall your coil springs are installed in your truck. It doesn't matter if it's stock, lifted, or if you're using a coil spring spacer. All I want is the height of the coil installed with the weight of the vehicle on it.

If it's lifted, please indicate the brand and size of the lift you're using, and if you have stock or extended radius arms.

I also want to know the year, if it's a regular cab, standard cab, or Bronco II, and if you have a heavy duty bumper and or a winch weighing down the front.

Example:

I have a 1996 Ford Ranger 4x4 extended cab with a heavy duty front bumper and winch with a Skyjacker 6-inch lift & extended radius arms - 14.5 inches

Goal:

My goal is to get a baseline of how tall the stock coil spring is in a stock Ranger (regular and extended cab), and then compare those measurements to those of lifted vehicles to show the true amount of lift obtained, and how things like model year, cab length, bumpers, winches, and even leverage from longer radius arms may have effected the overall height.

I really appreciate your participation. The more people we can get to post their measurements, the better.

Here's mine

1989 Single cab short bed, 4.0, factory bumper

Skyjacker 136 6" TTB coils, Superlift 4" brackets, custom radius arms

39cm = 15.3 inches

 

[DRanger024]

1994 Ranger regular cab, short bed, 4.0, 4x4, 3/16” thick fabbed bumper, fiberglass topper.

Rough Country 2” leveling coils, 1” spacers, coil buckets lowered 1”, extended radius arms w/rod ends, Tuff Country 2” brackets.

11.25” installed height.

I'm going to call it 16.5".

1993 single cab short bed (splash). Full-blown Skyjacker 6" lift kit. Skyjacker 6" coils, Skyjacker extended radius arms. 3.0l v6, modified Jeep style tube bumper with hitch receiver so it probably weighs 20-25# more than stock bumper. Also Viair air compressor under hood - maybe another 5-6#. I'm guessing on those weights.

@Jim Oaks if you want more posts, I can go measure my torsion bars and 2019 springs. It won't help you much but it will help run up the post count...

1993 Ranger STX 4.0L SuperCab
Warn Trans4mer mount (no winch)
Dual batteries (grp-27)
Skyjacker #138 (8") coils = 16.5" (6.0" actual lift, 6" brackets)


1991 Explorer Sport 4.0L (2-dr)
AF bumper (~70lbs) w/Warn M8000 winch
Skyjacker #JC60F (6" Cherokee) coils - 14.9" (4.4" actual lift, 4" brackets)


1990 Bronco II XLT 2.9L
Homebuilt bumper (~50lbs) w/Warn M8000 winch (synth rope)
Skyjacker #JC60F (6" Cherokee) coils = 16.1" (5.6" actual lift, brackets @ 4.5")


All four have extended radius arms.
All four are on -19mm offset wheels (15x8" w/3.75" backspace).
Wheel offset will affect the ride height of a TTB to some extent also (wider offset causes lower height).

91 SuperCab, Warn ish fr bumper w/winch , custom rear tube bumper . 4" radius arm bracket , stock arms , Skyjacker 6" drop brackets on the 4" holes, Skyjacker 136 6" springs at 14.5" . Truck does weigh pretty much 5000 lbs normal daily setup.

In my defense, two points.

1) That *is* how long my springs are.
2) I don't recall you saying you wanted an *exact* measurement.
