Yea like the topic states, i wanna get a lopey cam for my 1997 2.3 with a little bit of lift and rough idle, just somethin to sound cool and put some power in it, i dont wanna pay an arm and leg, so if anyone has a used good condition one, that'd be cool, just shoot me a reply or something, or if not, shoot me some suggestions, Thanks guys - Nick

Do you have a manual or automatic tranny? Putting a cam in like you have discribed will make your truck a pain to drive on the street.

"Lopey" cams are generally "lopey" because they increase the overlap, that kills bottom end and the 4 cyl. motors don't have much of that to begin with.

Racer Walsh has a nice intermediate roller for the street for $400.You would have to call them to see if it would work with the 97,,seeing as the 95+ had a smaller valve dia.

It will work, you just have to use the correct followers. I've swapped the cams back and forth between '89-'01 motors without a problem.
