No one called you a liar, I don't think you had the intent to deceive anyone, you just misinterpreted some information

Many engines share a common bellhousing pattern, Small Block Windsor pattern was used on close to 20 different engines over the years, V8's, V6's, and I6's

But the Vulcan V6 and Duratec V6 do not share a common pattern with each other

Transmission model does not denote what it will bolt to, just tells you its internal structure or version

One casting of the 4.6 block has a bolt pattern that matches the Duratec 3.0.

The FWD version used in the Lincoln Mk VIII, which is just a fancy V8 Taurus, was mated to an AX4 trans, and used the Duratec pattern. I ran across a thread on a T-bird forum that documented this quite well. It was about trying to 4.6 swap a Fox body T-bird, and the guy was very confused because he had read that the early 4.6s used the SBF pattern, and he had a 4.6 from a Mk 8 that he wanted to use for the DOHC setup, and a 5.0 trans, and they weren't even close to matching, but it also didn't match the later metric pattern from his brother's 4R70 trans.
i thought the Mark VIII was rwd based on the thunderbird???

The more and more that I research, my original thoughts in 2014/15, before I ever had another Ranger was to swap a 2.3 Eco and trans. into a Ranger. I think now that I have been digging around and seeing the potential of the 2.3, the weight, ect.... It is indeed the very best choice for a swap. I can get it turn key..

I think the price is fair for what all you get, no hunting, no pulling parts. Sent to your door.

2.0EB swap has been done, I think 2.3 would be similar.

I think the thread was at TCCOA, and IIRC it was part of a discussion of the 4.6 DOHC vs the Cobra engine. I can't find the thread right this minute, it's been almost a year.

Sorry, you're right, it was the Continental that was based on the Taurus platform and had the transverse 4.6.

That might be why I can't find the thread I was looking for.

i ask, because i have, in my possesion, a running Continental with the 4.6, and a non-running Ranger with the Vulcan 3.0. i know a lot of intake stuff and computer stuff will have to be done, i just want to know IF it can be done.

Even including the thread ADSM mentions, I don't think there's been any indication of a -Vulcan- pattern 4.6.

Nope, I am 100% talking about a Duratec pattern.

Like I said before, the LS transmissions are the only way I have ever found to put a 3.0 DOHC in a RWD application.

someone mentioned ,in a different thread, (rusty maybe?) about the Continental4.6 having a more narrow(?) bolt pattern than the other ones, because it mates to a Taurus trans. I was just trying to dig a little deeper into that and see what I could find.
