i got this crazy idea today from my teacher , well actually it is all my idea , he just gave me the engine model number. My idea is to take a early to mid 90's F-150 4x4 SWB , SAS the front and swap in a VT275. For those of you who do not know what the 275 is , it is a Navistar Diesel Engine , 275 CI 4.5L V-6 Twin Turbo diesel engine , basically a 6.0 Powerstroke minus 2 cylinders , it was made from 2006 to 2010 , came in the International CF and LCF trucks , makes 200hp and 440 lb/ft of torque. So what is everyones thoughts , is this a cool sounding project ?

Forget the F-150. Try stuffing it into a Ranger.

LOL coming from one who has worked on those engines id really advice against it. the VT275 is one of the worst engines made. It suffers all the issues ford 6.0L had and then some.

We had three in our fleet at work. Only ones left now (the others were sold off cause they spent too much time in the shop costing money rather than making money) and the only one left is currently consumming coolant and is a PITA to start.

Honestly if your looking for a small decent engine for a pickup swap id look at a Hino 4 cyclinder. 5.2L inline 4 makes something like 190hp and 380lbs/tq and i have two of them in my fleet with over 500,000kms on em.

I have thought of this as well. The only difference is that I want to do it in an 80-84 Bronco. I think it should fit.

see , i have heard good things about them , i wonder if they fixed the problems the last year or 2 , it was only a 4 year production , maybe it was like the 6.0 , most of the problems were with the very early ones , we have a late 6.0 in our shop now that has never been touched and has 435,000 miles , however our other shop has a early 6.0 that is on its 3rd engine
