Does any one know what year the transfer case has the vss sensors in them?

Isnt that vss in the rear end just a PITA! I had my 9" machined to accept the abs tone ring. There are external options for a vss mod you just need to do some math. But if all you gotta do is swap out part of the powertrain then go for it and let us know how it worked out.

I hope it will work! I'm thinking a 95 to 97 case should work.

Swaping cases would also give me a front yoke for the drive shaft which would kill 2 birds with one stone, since i still need one! Does any one know if if the vss in the transfercase does the same thing as the axle vss.

I am not sure it will work, I am not saying dont try. The axle vss counts the number of teeth that passes by the sensor while the t-case/tranny counts the rotational speed of a gear. Also the axle goes to the PCM first while the other goes directly to the speedo. Unless you swap out more parts it does not look good for this option.

The more I read into this the more confused I'm getting. The 95 to 97 case vss send info for the speed, pcm and for the transmission but not the same way it does for the 98-00. The other option would find a differnt axle with the vss in it, which I don't want to do.

looks really Good. Need to get a build thread started so we can have the details on your truck.
I have been talking with another guy on a other site and might be able to do this.
Found 96 tranfercase at the local yard, going to pick it up on Tues and hoping to tear into it on friday. If it dont work , it will still give the front yoke that i need for the front instead of getting the adapter which is the same price as the transfercase

were did you find the adaptor at. I'm having the same problem and I don't really want to swap t-cases. I plan on just hooking up a tack/speedometer combo so I'm not to worried about the vss. diffinetly let me know what you find out though. I might just have to do a swap if it works.

For the front cv u will need the Neapco CV Flange Adapter part # N2-83-288x. The adapter should coat somewhere around $100. I just doing the case because it will kill tow birds with one stone and the case is only costing $125. Picking up the case todays but wont be able to swap cases till friday.

when I first drove it it wouldn't go into overdrive but that was because the axles had 3.55 gears in them. I think it was just too high of a gear ratio. I just put the new carriers and gears in it and it seems to shift fine now. haven't taken it on the freeway yet though. Is that your problem? Its not shifting right? do you know if the 3.0 and the 4.0 have the same tranny? Mines a 5r55e.

I havent had it on the highway yet, still waiting for my plates(Big mess up with the title).
I havent swaped my rear gears yet(lack of funds) but driving around the block it seems to not shift out of 1st. I could be not going fast enough, i have 4.10s in the rear right now. Either way i found a transfercase that has the vss and the front yoke so im going to try that. Not sure on the tranny for the 3.0 , will have to look that up.
Any action pics or flexing pics, Truck looks very good.
