online fraud, gotta luv it :pissedoff:

found out Venmo got to my account last week, went to the bank and opened a new account.
Venmo hit the old account again last night, took it to a negative.

I'm a little confused at how the bank allowed 3 transfers from an account that had only 57 cents in it.

be vigilant!!!!

no, I'm not a Venmo user. didn't even know what it was until last Saturday.

Yeah 👍.... Swiped my pd card....our office ninjas caught it. But from there they clone some of my other accounts ..as I have some auto pay on the PD for vgg and peg from zip ties and bias plies.

So it's not just the government for sure stealing our shit.

I've had CashApp remove large amounts of money from my checking account several times. Never used it, never will...not even sure how it happened exactly, just showed up as "CashApp transfer to John Doe" or something like that, bank covered it under their fraud protection deal.

FYI CashApp is an absolute scam. They are owned by Square and neither company will even respond to requests about why their service was used for fraud. They simply do not care and when it happened they had a blurb about scams on their website that basically said "sorry, not our fault."

PayPal is about the only money transfer service that I halfway trust. I am shocked that anyone uses the newer ones, Venmo, Zelle, etc... better off just setting your cash on fire IMO.

It’s all about convenience and marketing. Super easy to give someone money or get money for people that don’t use cash for anything.
I’ve never used it, but know a lot of people that do.

And they will happily report your transactions to the government.

My wife uses Zelle rather frequently. I would say there are transfers in or out of an account most every day of the week. It's used for everything from business expense reimbursements to sending one of her supervisors get out of jail money just yesterday. She even sent our youngest kid money when she was standing at the checkout lane and was a few dollars short and having a literal meltdown at Walmart.

I don't use it and probably never will... but she watches our bank accounts like a hawk and just considers it a normal part of everyday life.

The big problem I had several years back was when my student loans took some unauthorized payments out of my bank account and put it way negative. The bank (PNC) basically shrugged and said oh well. I no longer bank with them, went to a credit union that has turned out to be more protective than me about my money and I’m ok with that. It’s an inconvenience at times but I’d rather have it that way.

Yeah...PayPal. I know. It still makes me more nervous than actual PayPal. Why do they need a subsidiary to do the same thing they do? Probably so they can provide a crap product with crap service and it doesn't directly reflect on the PayPal brand would be my guess.
