Good Work :)

That is an odd one, even with Batch Fire a shorted, or out of spec, injector should only effect 4 injectors on the V8 PCM
With sequential it should just effect that one injector, so a misfire

But glad the mystery is over

Yeah, our thought was that maybe one of the injectors we couldn't get to was shorted out and causing the issue. It was a shot in the dark but we hit the bulls-eye! All we got to do now is wrap up all the wiring, put the exhaust on and swap the rear axle with the Explorer and it will be ready to drive!

i am going to quote my dumb self......

and double check all of the wiring to the injectors and ignition.

getting brand new bad parts or the wrong parts in the right box.......its a regular thing.

Patience.....my dumb self does not have enough most of the time.

But a spare set of tested, verified flow injectors are worth thier weight in cabo.

A shitty load of fuel can foul injectors causing all sorts of issues over a small period of time.

Well if you could have heard all the cussing and seen all the head scratching you would know it's not BS! LOL! Besides, I could have come up with something more creative than a bad injector hiding under the intake!

We got most of the wiring wrapped up and looking neat. Now we are looking to install the Dakota Digital signal converter for the speedometer. Does any one know what color wire comes from the VSS into the engine bay? Can't seem to figure out if the wire from the Ranger connects to the same wire of the Explorer harness at the fire wall. I have the Ranger schematic but can't find one for the Explorer.

The Explorers had 4WABS so thats where speed signal came from, grey/black wire from ABS module and split to feed speedo, PCM, and Cruise, grey/black on all

Rangers with 4WABS did as well
If just rear ABS then 1998-2000 used GEM module for conversion, rear axle speed in and grey/black wire out, so even with V8 swap speedo would be fine
2001 and up used PCM, so no go with V8 swap

If in doubt you can splice into both rear axle VSS wires for the SGI-5E(dakota)
Ranger used Light Green and Red wires for rear axle VSS
You will need to test which one is grounded using OHM meter but I think its the RED one, odd
The terminals on the SGI-5E, will have + and - input, ground goes to the -
Then you only need 1 wire out of the 8,000ppm terminal to speedometer(grey/black wire), PCM(pin 58) and cruise(grey black wire), all these "end users" of the speed signal are already grounded so just need the corrected + signal(8,000ppm)
