We are 100% sure it's getting spark and 100% sure there are no pulses to the injectors so it 100% the PCM. Now, the original PCM was an EQE2 calibration but I needed EQE3 for the tune I was given so I bought another one. Regardless of which PCM we use we get the same scenario. So, I don't think the PCM is bad. The fuel pump runs each time the key is turned on and I think he said it's building about 46-48 PSI. I could be wrong on that though. The point is, it's building pressure so it's not the fuel pump. We are just going to pull the PATS from the Explorer and put it in. If it doesn't work at least we can eliminate it from the problem. I wish someone who has done this build before would chime in!

sounds like you fawked up the injector wiring to me mang....

I'm seriously considering just putting a carb on it and be done! Either that or a stand alone EFI system!

Now someone is say that you are supposed to swap the cluster as well as it is part of the PATS! I never heard that before and it's not in any of the tech sections! Any thoughts on that?

Break it right the first time. Fix it better the next time.
I wired the pats system into my 98 including the cluster from the explorer. Glad I did because when I tried to crank and no start The theft light blinked rapidly in which I knew something was up with the pats. I could keep it running with carb cleaner but not by itself. Dash metal was interfering with the transmitter. Moved it to a different location and bam she's ran ever since. I called and talk to James when I swapped the v8 in to ask about pats delete. He told me depending on the pcm code even though it was an eec-v that sometimes even though pats was disabled through a tune some computers would still look for the signal.

In 2004 Rangers, and up, Ford switched to the HEC Cluster which has a micro-processor built-in, which did have the PATS software, so like the separate PATS module setup

Not sure when Explorers got that but not your issue if fuel pump comes on

Yes, motorcraft and no, I don't have the old one anymore. One thing I haven't mentioned is that I'm using the Ford Racing 36Lb. injectors. Someone else said that may be a factor in this. I didn't think it would make that much of a difference though! So much that it won't even start?

If they are high impedance injectors that it IS the problem

You need a different Driver to operate high impedance injectors

Your current PCM driver can only "see"/use 11-19ohm injectors

They are the same impedance as stock. They just flow more.

Did you test them?

At this point I would, lol

Should show 14ohms, approx., between the 2 contacts

Part number would have an H in it for high impedance

the injector harness is firing correctly via noid...is it reversed?

do you have another set of injectors to try?
i am going to quote my dumb self......

and double check all of the wiring to the injectors and ignition.

getting brand new bad parts or the wrong parts in the right box.......its a regular thing.

It was a 5.0 Mustang cam, but yeah. Crazy stuff happens. Physically fit just fine, but way too much duration.
