My credo
I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
I already know that
Then you know it’s not a V8 prototype...

If Ford built it than the VIN would reflect that, or it wouldn’t have a VIN. (Most prototype, experimental, concept cars, etc don’t have a VIN.)

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
I don't believe Ford built a V8 Ranger, the new for 80 F series was built with the idea that V8's would be disappearing, they had to punch a hole through the front cross member for the oil filter to poke through. A Ford engineer retired to our area in the late 60's and brought a proto type 66 Falcon with him that had no VIN and he drove on a Michigan manufacturer plate until he gave it back to Ford. His car had a 289 in it with an Econoline front suspension, Ford had planned to put the 427 into the Falcon and they had to get rid of the shock towers. He designed the front suspension for the Falcon that ended up under 65-73 Mustangs, Fairlanes, Torinos, and Granada's. He told me he designed a rack and pinion steering system and a front wheel drive for the 58 T bird but Ford didn't use it. The front wheel drive design was sold to GM and they put it in Eldorados and Toronados.

I have heard Ford Motorsports did build at least one 302 first gen. Never heard/seen anything other than hearsay though.

Ford did build a V8 prototype in the 90's.

It was immediately crushed, burned, and the ashes buried in a secret location. Then they set the town on fire where it was created.

Centralia burns to this day, like an eternal candle in memory of the v8 ranger.

Rumor I heard was that the fire was started by doing a burn out in it. The V8 Ranger plans were scrapped and buried to hide the evidence.
