Just scored a 93' STX for free.99 and am highly motivated to get started on a new project. I just did a V8 conversion (automatic and carbureted) so I'm confident I can do another. If I do I will likely go fuel injected with manual trans. I'm also intrigued with forced induction so I'd like to try my hand and turbo charging. The project truck has a good motor and trans which I could sell to raise some funds for a new V8, or I can go the turbo route and sell my current V8. Looking for some suggestions on which path to take.
Or I could sell this and fund pro charging my V8. I can't decide. Suggestions?

If you want unique, don't mind being a guinea pig, and don't mind throwing a couple (few?) grand at it, then go boosted v6. If you want easy, and big power, then go v8.

I don't mind being unique, but Im not sure I have the experience to be a successful guinea pig... I been looking on some of the other forums also and that would seem to be the case. No one really has a blueprint for turbo'ing a V6 so it's not looking like thats the direction Ima go. Ill just sell the motor and trans and put it towards another V8. I am still very interested in forced induction tho. Just kinda sounds naughty, lmao! And Id like this conversion to be fuel injected. I don't fully understand it yet but from what I've seen I can do a blown through carb supercharger on my 91'. Since I have that option available if I go fuel injected with this new conversion Im thinking turbo...

So... ima look around for some of the threads on here for Turbo V8 Ranger builds! And also for procharged V8 Rangers. If anyone has done anything like that let me know so I can do some edumacatin'

Back to it. Not doing anything with a V6 tho. Sticking to my H.O. 5.0. Ideally Id like a paxton supercharger like Shane said... But just some quick searches and that avenue quickly breaks my budget. Today I did some reading on turbo charging carbureted engines and it seems more my ta$te. Turbo from a junk yard, a few used parts from cl or ebay, and my own metal work, = a budget build that $uit$ my needs. So, aside from what I've read about how to do it, Im wondering how well it works from someone who has had one. Anybody?

You're not going to get much help about turbocharging a 5.0 in the 3.0 v6 section. I'd start a new thread, or have this one moved to the forced induction, or engine swap boards by a MOD.

it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
ecoboost.

do it.

you know you want to. likely low as 4-6 grand if you sell the goal to the parts guys so they package you up nice.... there is definitely a blueprint to turbo 6 cylinders

its late model ford f150.:icon_thumby:

with the cost of fuel these days i think it may be a good way to go....even if the sound of a 6 whizzer turns my stomach compared to the rumble of a small block v8.
