Im looking to do a 302 swap. Would it be a good idea to buy a cheap 5.0 mustang as a donor car? Can i use the engine and transmission straight out of it? How would i find a driveshaft to fit it? Jegs has this swap kit http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/m20ProductDisplayView?catalogId=10002&langId=-1&productId=390220&storeId=10001 will this have everything i need? I really want to go through on this one because the mustang should have everything i need, engine, trans, computer wiring. Im just not positive on any of this after searching.

IDK what year your truck is but I'd think it'd be easier with the Explorer 5.0 parts. At least they were made to fit inside a RBV engine bay.

Yup, the Explorer is the better option.

I have a 1994 v6 3.0. The explorer does seem better now that ive looked on craigslist because i can get it for $1500 and it should come with an 8.8 axle i can put on my ranger right? But will it have almost the same power, none of them say if they are a 302 or not

Ok, our recommendation was based on the idea of you wanting a 302. You need to verify the engine of the donor you buy yourself. Looking for AWD and/or Mountaineers will increase your chances of finding one with a 5.0. The 302 (5.0) Explorer uses a different set of accessories, and has different exhaust manifolds, that allow it to fit the smaller engine bay better. They also all come with the GT40 or GT40P heads which flow better than the old Mustangs.

The Explorer will also come with the 31-spline 8.8, but will need flipped unlessA you want some serious drop.
