I also work in engineering. Maybe that's why we call them instruments.

You have to open the boot for the spare tyre. Open the bonnet so you can get your spanners out and see if the petrol is getting to the carburettors. I had a factory manual for my first car and MGB. It was way better than my friend's Datsun 1600 roadster. His manual had the bad Japaneese-speak in it.
