Upper Ball Joint

I never changed a ball joint before. If I get the Harbor Freight tool kit ($89) does this video look accurate? If so then I think I could do it. Already spent coin on new UCA's last inspection but it seems the lift is killing my upper ball joints. Thanks.

That's pretty much all there is to it. You may even be able to borrow a ball joint press from the parts store opposed to buying one.

Just had someone on another board tell me the uppers are welded and I have to replace the whole arm but I don't see where it's welded.

I know some of the Ranger ones aren't replaceable... you replace the upper arm. I've never put them in an explorer... i guess I "assumed' they were based on the video.

02-up Explorer is the same suspension as 07-up Sport Trac but maybe they changed something and they're not replaceable any more. The video does say 02-05 Explorer.
