I would not take out a loan for truck mods ever.

I would also not mod a truck I am making payments on.

Why not just buy a older 150?
Well I actually prefer Dodge and Chevy 1500s over the F-150. DeSoto Ford in Arcadia just has a nice blue XL for 0% at 72 months.

What new truck truly has all the features you want straight from the factory?

I've looked around here for a 4WD Ranger but can't find a rust free one in the Sport model, with the same mileage, and not in freaking white.

The f**k is wrong with white! White doesn't show scratches and blemishes.

If my truck was black it would look like a dumpster fire. You can't even tell how badly scratched up my paint is in white.

Personal preference.
I see way too many white cars here.

That F-150 doesn't have an air locker, but it does have a rear locker

Frankly, I would do none of those things.

I wouldn't even start pondering it until I knew why you need 4x4 in Florida.

Ive driven a 2wd truck my whole life and have never been stuck in the sand. I got the the rear end stuck on a stump once, and got stuck in 1" of mud on flat ground with an empty 6x10 trailer attached. I'm with @adsm08 on this one. Why spend all that money for nothing. Do like every other guy and deck your 2wd truck out to look like a 4wd and call it a day. The wider tires won't sink into the sugar sand.

White ford rangers are great!!! Also, I would not go into debt over vehicle modifications if I could help it. Project vehicles should probably be built up as the finances are available. Just my .02.

I live and grew up on NJ pine barren trails. You don't need 4x4 if you're smart. BUT you run into pits of sugar sand. My 93 s-10 had a posi rear so it did awesome but it was low so when you hit the pumpkin you was done. 4x4 probably could have crawled out. I've ridden Florida trails and they are super similar to the Nj pines. Its flat, no hills, but tight, technical and soft.

definitely agree with @Dirtman on black vehicles... they show every speck of dirt, maginfy any ding, scratch or blemish and will just piss you off trying to keep them looking nice. I owned one black car... bought it new and in the 3 years that I had it I probably put 2k into body work repairing door dings. ugh...

Now for white cars... got a white Escape and a white Buick Lucerne... I used to have a white Intrepid, but it was beat to death. white also shows a lot of dirt, but is much easier on scratches and dings. however, everyone and his dog and his mother has a white SUV. try parking a white escape out in the wild, and chances are there will be 20 other white SUV's (including 2 more Escapes) parked next to it to make it harder to find lol (Ask my wife who has griped at me incessantly for the last year about the Escape lol)
