Hi all,
I have been following the Ranger Station for many years. My daily driver is a 1994 Ranger XLT, 4.0L, 5 speed,4X4.

In July of 2018, I moved to Ontario, Canada, and had my Ranger worked on out of necessity. It hasn’t run right since. A multitude of problems. I tested and measured everything that was associated with my DTCs.

I went through all of the diagnostics and troubleshooting (Fuel, spark, compression) but I did not have access to an OBD1 scanner to look at ECTs, temperature, live data, used a DVOM and an oscilloscope, to measure voltages, positive temperature coefficients on sensors, etc.

This March - April, I was ready to give up as after following 97RangerXLT’s fantastic write up on the upper and lower intake manifold gaskets and I still had my Lean and Rich DTCs. I replaced the fuel injectors as well.

Well today, I recalled reading a post by RonD about his trials and tribulations with his 4.0L running funny and got it figured out that someone had worked on it and reversed his HO2S 1 and 2 sensor wiring. I couldn’t remember where and what the post was about, but today I went through my wiring and found that my HO2S 1 and 2 sensor connectors were on the wrong sides!!!!

After two years of disappointment, diagnostics/testing/ fuel, money and parts, I was finally able to open her up on the highway and drove for about 40 miles, without a hitch. It runs smoothly and is as strong as the day I got it in ‘94.

Sorry about this long winded post, but I wanted to thank the good folks at TRS, 97RangerXLT, and RonD for their awesome posts and knowledge and awesome site! I have a new truck now. I really appreciate the excellent information and the helpful people ... take care!!!!
Thank you,
Brent (aka Ranger_gord)

My 94 runs like new and now I can relax a little. I tried thanking the guys on here for their awesome knowledge, but I guess they are busy.
