I have like 1000 to invest idk if that's enough fkr a whole seg up or not

If you do all the work yourself, have all the tools needed already and you just want to scab it together 1000 may do it... but if you want to do it right and end up with any sort of reliability 1000 isn't nearly enough unfortunately.

Most of the 2.3 guys use Holsets from older Cummins trucks. Hx35 I think? That might be a little small for a 3.0, but not terrible. Of course, then you have to fab up your piping, exhaust, and lubrication for the turbo. Other major parts that you'd need to buy would be an intercooler, larger injectors and a PCM tune.

$1000 budget would be tight even with junkyard parts and a bunch of skills and fab experience with this sort of thing. If you're using new parts, and/or paying to have the work done $1k isn't going to cut it.
