turbo 2.3l

Ive been wanting to turbo my 1990 2.3l 4x4 ranger i know what all its going to take mechanically like turbo manifold,turbo,injectors,oil lines ,inter cooler, waste gate,blow off valve,auxiliary fuel pump, boost controller,exhaust set ups and of course a set of forged pistons ..... the part that im not quiet sure about is the ecu could i just buy a stock computer for a 88 Thunderbird coupe or would that not plug and play im not planning on any crazy amounts of boost id like to run around 10-15psi max... any real help would be appreciated thanks

There are 3 articles to read for the 2.3l turbo swaps

Your 1990 2.3l computer uses MAF sensor so can handle up to 7psi boost
But read thru the articles, some good "been there done that" info in there

Nearly identical to my build, I've typed it up many a time.

Ron, '90 isn't necessairly a MAF engine, that's a mid year switch... my '90 was built in '89 and didn't have a MAF

a turbo computer requires some repinning and the use of a VAM, more specifically the right VAM for the computer as there's two sizes...

With a MAF turbo, do not use a blow off valve, just use a VAM, metered air leaking is a no no... they get mad...
