part number goes to interior fuse panel. If you have a 97 through 2003 ford ranger.

F5 = 1995
7 = Ranger
B = body electrical

14A068 = Ford part number for general use, in this case fuse/relay panel, not Ranger specific, not even truck specific

AA = revision of part, AA is 1st revision, AB would be 2nd revision, AC ect.......

F5 does not mean it was only used in a 1995 vehicle, F5 means the previous 14A068 part was changed more than just a new revision so its year was updated to denote the major change
You could find an F5 part in a 2020 vehicle if it was never changed enough to update the F5 designation

In 1999 Ford changed their Year and Model designations, Year is now 1 digit, Model is now 2 digits
1999 = X
2000 = Y
2001 = 1
.
.
2010 = A
2011 = B

Ranger = L5

So YL5x- would be a 2000 part number designation for use in Rangers

So that would mean this part is compatible with the 2000 2.5l ranger power distribution i put in, and shouldn't have any issues connecting? I put in the right dist block and engine harness, but now I cannot get this thing to crank unless I jump power from the battery to the ignition signal wire now. It won't start either, just cranks when i jump wire.

No, it would mean its for sure compatible with a 1995 Ranger

If there was a F6, F7, F8, X or Y change then that would be the correct part

Google: f57b-14a068-aa

And change the 5 to 6 and then 7 and then 8

Then try it with XL5 and YL5

If you get a later match then not the same as the F5

Looks like fuse 24 in cab fuse box was used the same on both 1995 and 2000, it should have 12volts when key is turned to START
That 12v is passed thru clutch or automatic Neutral switch, and to the starter relay in the engine fuse box, and that activates starter motor

Check if either coil pack has 12volt on center wire with key ON, that's from fuse 19 in cab fuse box, 25amp
