well I dont have an evaporator haha guess I'm missing more than I thought. well I'm learning along the way. Just to make sure I'm not missing anything else: I have the whole unit on the firewall; it's all hooked up to that little plastic ball (not sure what it is) and then I've got the drier hooked up to the unit as well; the hose from the bottom of drier goes to the condenser; the hose from the top goes to the back of the compressor then to the other side of the condenser.

Thats what I have now. I dont see where I could hook anything else up but there must be somewhere for the evaporator I just dont know

Where is the drier located? On Rangers the drier is mounted right next to the heater box. The lines should go:
Evaporator to drier (accumulator)
Accumulator to compressor
Compressor to condenser
Condenser to evaporator

Since the "drier" is on the low pressure side, it's actually called an accumulator. On systems where it's located on the high pressure side, it's called a drier.
Also, I would hold off on installing the accumulator until you're ready to have the system charged up. If you leave the lines open to the outside air, it will accumulate moisture and be no good. Leave it sealed with the caps on it until ready to install.

I'm about to pick up the wires from the same guy I bought the AC setup from. I talked to him about the evaporator. he's not extremely knowing of what he had or how it worked but he said everything that was there when he pulled everything apart AC wise was what I bought from him except for the condenser which someone else got to before me and I explained to him what the evaporator was and he said that there was nothing else there. I looked on the condesner I got from another truck and theres no other connections for anything.

If anyone else has a 2000 or 2001 2.5L could you take a peek and let me know what you have

ok well I'm still in the same spot...I got wires and traced them but its a pain to wire these things in to the existing harness so I'm waiting to find a full wire harness from a truck like mine then go from there but ever since I started this project, air will blow through my vents especially on the floor the faster I go. I'm not sure it theres something broke on the heater core, if it's maybe not set in right, or I need to replace the heater core

just a FYI, the accumalator has a big bag of Silica in it, I have a friend that takes them apart, then bakes the Silica to dry it out, and uses it to dry the air before it goes into his planes engine when stored.

I have also seen a local shop take the accumalators and put them in a oven to dry the mosture out of the silica, and then reuse it as a "rebuilt" unit.

I for one don't approve the "rebuilt" idea, but they do tell the people what they do, and still give a warrenty on their service.
