OK, maybe it's not anything particularly special, like the RV Ranger, or the six door Super Duty, but it's still something that I'd never seen before when I first saw it, and to see it still running, well, that's something else.

I would LOVE an old rx7, but the cost to rebuild one of those motors is a huge turn off.

because they put a good engine in a mediocre truck... . If Ford got the Cummins and used an Allison transmission, they would probably get much more of the market share... but then again if I went to get a new tow rig right now it would probably be a mid 2000's Duramax... or a '99-03 7.3L 6 speed...

I did a lot off googling entertaining the idea of going 1 ton diesel as an upgrade to my current 1/2 ton work rig. seems they all have some compromise between a good motor and crappy trans, good motor and trans in a crappy truck, or vice versa, or something in middle....Decided to stick w my F150 and arrange my life around not needing more than it could haul.

Because prior to 1993 dodge made the best trucks on earth and the 12v cummins is still one of the greatest pickup truck engines today.

While I'll agree that the 12V and even 24V Cummins were great engines, the newer ones have suffered a little from the ever increasing emissions standards. I'll put my 6.7 up against one any day and would do the same with my old 6.0. However, there has been nothing wrong with the transmissions Ford has used in the Superduty line and they have actually gotten better with each iteration. An Allison is fine too, until it's not.

The 4R100 was kinda meh.

I think they are all pretty good anymore.
