I can start my truck up but when I let off the gas the rpm's drop instantly to nothing and the truck dies. I popped the hood and on the radiator I noticed a bunch of seeds and mouse crap now I don't drive it every day, about once or twice a week so could some stupid mouse have done something. I've never had trouble with them before though. I am going to check the air filter tomorrow to see if they made a nest in there or not. anybody got any suggestions.:icon_confused:

Could be.

Also check the IAC wiring. I've seen more than one "once a week" driver do this, and the wires were chewed through.

Ok so how hard is it to replace the egr valve, mine is really rusted for some reason. mechanic looked at me and said have fun I then laughed and told him he was probably going to be the one having fun. he was really busy though so I'll probably do it myself if I can. anybody know or have any pics

Mix 50/50 of acetone and auto trans fluid. Spray it on the rusted bolts. Best penetrating oil EVER.

its not hard. its just a few little bolts and a big ol' nut that likes to rust up tight, few wires, no big.

Use whatever penetrating oil you are going to use a day or so before on the exhaust tube. they can get BAD.

IAC can be cleaned, but half the time you gotta replace it anyway.

The TP sensor can't be cleaned. Its a potentiometer like the fuel level sensor. If its gone bad it isn't dirty, its worn out.

You can test the TP pretty easily. hook a ohm meter to it and twist it with a screwdriver.

Ya it was the TP truck runs fine now expept now some frickin valve thing is broke again it's leaking antifreeze. This is the second one i've had to put on can't remember what it's called it's on the left side of the engine it's a black plastic valve it's very easy to see. supposedly they go bad every other year or less on rangers. local mechanic has basically the same truck as me and he's put on 5 of them. It takes all of 2 minutes to change all you need is a set of pliers or strong had it's just held on with hose clamps at least it's not to expensive only 30.00 or so.
