So, I went to the Pitt Maneuver earlier this year (Lemons race in Pittsburgh). BMW 3 and 5 series, porsche 944, and Fox body ruled the track. Sounded like the foxes were a mix of 2.3 and 5.0. Couldn't tell which was faster.

Damn porsche 944 placed while running on 3 cylinders. The two drivers they had were GOOD though.

If we can nail down a 2.3 truck with IFS, I think we'd be good for either. It would actually be really cool to run it both for gambler and lemons.

I'm going to go look at a thudnderchicken turbo coupe this weekend. Rotted away, but good engine. I'll donate the engine if that's the route we take. ??

@PetroleumJunkie412 This started out as your suggestion. Do you want to pick the event and lead a group?

As far as a Gambler truck, I feel like a 4x4 might be better based on some of the videos I've watched. Especially in the Midwest. Seems to be more mud than the 'original' Gambler 500 in Oregon. I honestly wouldn't mind doing that one, but I don't know if we really have anyone up there.

The 20 Hours of Lemons is held at a track, and allows more member participation. Imagine if we had enough people to show up with (3) rangers painted up like the Ford GT40's from the 1966 LeMans race? We could never get that many people involved, but it would be cool.

Want to borrow my race truck for a year? Currently no motor in it. Has a 5speed, 4x4 3.73 gears, 31" Baja claws. Basically stock. I have $ posted in my first post of my build thread. Only thing would be I want it back. Ohhh....and its in Canada.
PJ said he hasn't seen this post where I offered my race truck without a motor. It comes fully caged. The offer is still there and I think would cut down a lot of prep and time to get something road worthy.
Edit; I decided that I don't need it back until there isn't any body racing it anymore. Consider it a permanent loan.

If it's not broken Don't Fix It!
Without getting a truck with a cage already installed prep time on it would be quite a few weekends so keep build time in mind when picking the first races to shoot for. Next is support vehicles with spare parts, including spare tires, and tools for race day repairs. This last part would be cool if it were a Ranger conversion trailer pulled behind one of the pit crew rangers.

I would add in my time but I think I would be more of a hindrance now that I move so slow but I can chip in a few bucks here and there and bonus parts I may have kicking around that is needed.

IFS 2WD would be best for Lemons racing due to its handling and lower center of gravity But the 4WD would be best of other style racing. My 2 cents for what it is worth is, For now, go 4WD and race that till a second truck, a 2WD, becomes feasible so at least for now all races are open to be entered. Simple off road to on road tire change with the normal suspension changes per course.

This sounds like the best idea. A 4x4 can go anywhere a 2wd can... not so much the other way. If we were to have a “one size fit all” it would have to be 4wd.

With enough momentum you can move mountains...

If people are doing it with cars I question how difficult the track is.
