So... What about doing a TRS 24 hours of lemons Ranger?

Seriously between all of us we could put a viable truck together. We all have a spare "blah" laying around.

Pass it off between members on the project in the regions of the race. Betcha we'd be able to cover an entire season.

Hell. I'll even throw in towards the entry fee.

Interesting idea. There's also the Gambler 500.

I would be excited to see you guys actually get together in a real shop and make a pro video on a 2wd v8 swap truck that is lowered a couple of inch's. I would also help support it and I think others would also do so.

I'd be down with either race. Went to an event in the spring and loved it. Been planning on doing a lemons race as soon as work slowed down.

I think a TRS team would be cool AF. With as many of us that have parts/whole trucks laying around, it would be fairly easy to get one together on the super cheap, if not nearly free. A lot of exposure for us as well, and may be able to pick up a few sponsors.

Wouldn't have to be an ideal entrant, either. Just being able to run it on a track is more time than most of us have/will ever/have ever spent on a track. Also with some of the know-how heavyweights around here, would give a lot of us an opportunity to learn how to race and work on a vehicle set up for racing.

The idea has merit. I think it would be fun, good exposure, and even if we didn't actually win anything, I think people would enjoy following the story.

That’s a great idea. I’ve always wanted to run something at LeMons.
If this happens, I’m in to help (tow, drive, pit crew, supply pit vehicle, etc.) anywhere around NJ. Depending on where the (obviously it would have to be a) Ranger is built, I could donate parts or time.

I have a little over a half a roll of Nickle-Copper break line I can donate to a TRS Lemons racer if the logistics cam be worked out on where it will be built.

No, not a V8 swap. Use @PetroleumJunkie412's truck. Swap his 2.9 for a 3.0.

They might even visit the forum to see PJ blow a gasket when he discovers what was done to his truck!

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Sounds fun. Do they do one of those races down here? Maybe Charlotte or Atlanta?

So if we do this, I'm in. Theoretical team would have open access to my parts room, and I'll chip in to help cover the entry fees, safety budget, Etc.

The hardest part is going to be getting everyone to agree on engine and transmission, and two wheel drive versus 4-wheel drive.

The only reason I would vote four wheel drive is if we can come up with a Dana 28 transfer case. Full-time all-wheel drive on a track certainly isn't a bad thing to have, but I don't know if we could ever get the axles and hubs to hold up to the stresses.

The other consideration for me would be Auto vs manual, and Ranger clutches are not exactly known to be the best. Then again, neither Ranger automatic transmissions. That's a chin scratcher.

The one that may be surprising to quite a few of you is that I would vote for either a 2.3 turbo, or a 302. As much of a Cologne fan is I am, they're an absolute bitch to tune (speaking from experience here lol), and a megasquirt would put us completely over the budget.

2.3 turbo or 302 are easy power plants to get a hold of for next to nothing, and we have plenty of veteran engine swappers here that have the know how.

Hardest parts are going to be logistics and workspace imo. I'm in for covering the logistics to and from the Pittsburgh leg.

No joke, thought about the 3.Slow for lemons. Yeah, sure, they're crap, we all know.

They are also happy in eff-you Rev territory, and are surprisingly durable when they don't plug with soot or split a head. Ericbphoto's surprised me when he was rolling around Ohio with it. I'll never like them, but I do respect them for what they are. ??

Its 500 miles. Its endurance. Both the 2.3 and the 302 are fine choices. Don't forget the total budget for non safety items is $500.00
