With Alaska surrounded by Canada you guys don't use KM? cause that would make the drive sound even further... like 1702 KM:icon_confused:
"Surrounded by Canada"? You sir, need a geography lesson! I may just have to climb out of my igloo, shoo away all the polar bears, harness up the dogs and come give you one! :thefinger::icon_rofl:

You actly can... if you live on Little Diomede Island. Big Diomede is only 2.4 miles away but is Russian territory.

I'll have to see about it still, I might even decide to take the VW instead if I do cause I can pull off better mileage and drive faster doing so. If I had a ride alongto split gas it would help alot.

As long as they aren't Bi-Polar Bears...they can be grumpy...

I'd offer to come along and split the gas but I'm a bit out of the way and my transporter broke last week...but if the VW is better on gas maybe put a Ford key fob on your ring to make it offical....

Indeed, crunch time is on. Getting pretty stoked as of right now. Still need to figure out where this this is going next.

Unfortunately I won't actually know if I can go until Friday, I might end up having to work overtime this weekend apparently.

You could always do what a frind of mine did...."Call in WELL!" (He said "I'm calling in WELL...after all the times that I've come to work as sick as a dog, I thought you'd like to know that today I'm doing a lot better, and it's time that I got some of my OWN S**T done!"...(true story)

Well, as of today, the weather looks like crap for flying. Tahneta Pass is open but the weather from Gulkana/Mentasta/Tok looks like crap. Bottom line is I could get to Gulkana today but not through the mountains to Tok. Weather isn't going to stop it from being driven... Might clear up by the weekend, might not. Depends on which weather forcast you believe. It would really be nice to know if you could drive it BEFORE Friday. If this thing doesn't go this weekend, it is going in the mail.

OK, Lima and I are still able to fly it to Tok if the weather permits. It is 5 hrs of flying or 13hrs or so driving... So, weather is looking pretty iffy at the moment but we'll see what it does later in the week.

So, what is your itenerary Mike? What is your ETA in Tok? Planning to spend the night there or doing a quick turnaround? Camping or hotel room? PM me your cell number so we can stay in contact.

The airport in Tok is right off of the highway to the left when you come into "town". We will try to park somewhere near the road but it depends where transient parking is located. We will be flying a Maule M-4. Tail number is N40684. You can drive onto the ramp of an airport but don't wander into an active taxi way or runway! What will you be driving?

This is us...

Tires on those planes always looked cartoonish to me. Makes me laugh whenever I see them. I keep thinking of like Sylvester the cat over inflating a tire because he was distracted or something.....LOL

Yeah sorry, Its pretty difficult especially all the way down here in homer, in anchorage... I would definately drive. I can't justify going to anchorage and then all the way to Tok and back in 2 days. Gas and time is too limited, though if I drove to anchorage and you had room in your plane I'd definately pitch in for some of the fuel or truck gas. I can't do 24 hours of driving in 2 days.

Ok THIS is how its going down ladies, I can teach or we can do. I AM making reservations tomorrow for the night of June 30th in Tok Alaska for the AK/CAN crew (MM). I AM getting an International calling card so MM can speak directly with the pilot of the fast mover on Saturday morning on prevailing weather conditions in a specific pass we need to ghost through. If the ground crew and aircrew leave their home bases about the same time that gives us some hunt n peck time to get through some passes, we may very well have to land and wait it out. Either way MM has a spot to stay, its all a cake walk till someone has frosting drippin out their drawers heh heh. This is three men, two countries and one mission... bring it.:icon_thumby:
