My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
if you guys can hook me up with a younger tiger, I kind of know what to do, just very hard for me to get it done these days. Also, it seems like the majority of you guys want to break your trucks running over rocks and into riverbeds. I don’t know much about that, so I teamed up with a mountain daredevil, it might make a good combination. Food for thought.
Part of the trick is to figure out what works in your area. I've tried a couple times to do a meet-n-greet and it hasn't worked. I've had moderate success with overlanding trips. First time was the Georgia Traverse. Robbie Mangrum and his sine, Zane joined me for part of that trip. This year, I tried a meet-n-greet at a cool scenic overlook. I even offered to provide hot dogs. Not takers. But, a few weeks later, I planned a camping trip for the same location. Robbie and Zane joined me, as did Senornoob.

I know there are a couple other members within 30 miles of me and at least another 1/2 dozen close enough to come to a picnic or gathering at a restaurant or park. Finding out what interests those people enough to bring them out is the hardest part.

I be got an idea or two I'm kicking around for a n east coast meet next year, possibly in West Virginia.

I'm always hosting local rides in my area. Mainly scenic trails with shallow creek crossings. There are a few spots that may require 4wd. I can always bypass those if the attendees are not wanting a 4wd experience. But it's basically a beginners route. I do venture out towards the Chatanooga area quite a bit too. Wouldn't mind hosting a ride at Prentice Cooper. But that's all depending on interests.

As far as the roundup went. I thought it was awesome. I like not having a certain time to be at a place or anything. I'm more of a go with the flow kinda guy at these things. I know the amount of effort it takes to put something like this together. I've helped host a few HGA get togethers and it took months of prep to prepare. As like some of you this is basically my vacation from work. Even reality sometimes haha. So being layed back with no rushing goes well with my idea of these events. I wouldn't mind a little introduction at group campfire. But I try and introduce myself and meet everyone during the events. I know I missed a couple people. I expect to meet y'all at the next one haha.

Oh yeah as mentioned above. These things never seem to last long enough. I've really enjoyed getting to know everyone. You guys that put in all the work are rock stars. You guys don't get enough thanks for all the hard work.

Anytime you wanna get together man hit me up. Most of my riding is down in Hickman County right by you. I actually have family that live in Humphreys County in McEwin. Hell bring the family over and hang out by the fire pit. We are pretty much home bodies. We only get out to get farther away from people haha

Rick, I'm not against showing up at the cars and coffie meets you've been posting, the timing just doesn't work for me. While I'm headed out the door for work at 6am during the week, I'm not a morning person on the weekends. To be in place at 7am at those cars and coffee meets I'd have to leave here at 5am, and I'm not up for making that drive that early. Show up any later and the traffic between here and there is too bad. No offense, but that meet isn't worth driving up the night before and staying the night. I do enjoy seeing the pictures you post though.

I'd be up for something like that in the north GA, lower TN/NC area if I can make a weekend of it. For the most part I'd be driving up after work on a Friday and headed back by noon on Sunday. Probably be more of a cheap hotel/cabin trip rather than packing for tent camping, simply due to the time spent setting up and breaking down camp. I won't be set up much for trail riding unless it's a ride-along or ATV friendly, but can definitely sight see and sit by a campfire.

Right now it suffers a similar problem to the LBL trip. Got to finish up some stuff on the truck before it is ready for a long distance (more than an hour) drive, though the F-250 or Kia would be ready if allowed. After looking at the bank statements and other stuff, I've also got to get some bills paid down and get my shit together before I can make it happen. Prior to the well pump failing at the beginning of the year I was set financially for the engine swap. The subsequent engine rebuild and upgrades were not in the budget. Ran up the credit cards a bit higher than expected and I still have more to go between exhaust and tuning.

I've helped host a few HGA get togethers and it took months of prep to prepare.
HGA is that a location or a group?

I'd love to try to hit some of these things, but I am in no position to be trying to plan them. That said, if for some weird reason you find an even you want to do in the middle GA area, I'll help as much as I can since I'm local.

As @Rick W said, it's like herding cats.
An event in WV I could probably do.
My current truck does not have a locker or skid plates though.

I've been wanting to hit Cades Cove/Tail of The Dragon area. Not sure when it will happen.

HGA stands for Hidden Gem Adventures. It was a FB group I used to moderate. It became too Toyota based so I resigned from my moderator position. I usually get down to central GA couple time a year to ride. I've been working g my way down the Georgia Adventure Trail. I've made it a little southeast of Atlanta on it so far. Looking to do more of it next year. Be awesome to have you come along.

Im.north of Nashville now. In White House. I grew up in Cheatham County. Kinston Springs to be exact. That's why I'm familiar with all the roads down that way. I used to ride the area that is now West Tuckasee OHV park over by the river. Now it's all private land.

That's definitely doable in a 2wd. I followed a Camary down Parsons Branch from Cades to the Tail of the Dragon. Beautiful drive. Has some old structures along the drive that you can stop and explore.

Yeah, don't think I've ever heard of it. Yeah not far from here. I used to ride LBL along years ago. Not a lot offloading but another riding around. Still remember some spots.

Man we can go to LBL too. I've been going there quite a bit since last years gathering. It's got mild to wild haha.

Also had been in that has that is now fenced in before they did that. Told a Park Ranger one time someone should take care of it. Tons of cemeteries in that place. Had a weird experience near one of them. One night before I went to Afghanistan.
