Hey Rick ;

I'm sure if one knows where to look there's good pizza there .

I have found several good pizza joints in So. Cal. and I too am from New England .

NOW you have logical logic.

Before, it was just the aimless rant of a New Jersey resident who has to go to NYC for decent pizza and displayed no connection to the Atlanta Pizza scene.

I can confirm there are 2 good pizza places in the Greenville, SC area. I haven't done exhaustive research in Atlanta yet.
Shaking my head. Tsk tsk. Two good pizza places in Greenville. That’s the opinion of a guy who lives in a hollow tree in Welford, SC.

And, to be clear, “New York pizza“ is generally pizza from Newark through the New York, Metro area, and the Bronx, may be up to Bridgeport.

I only mentioned Bridgeport, included, because that’s where my son played ball in college. Officials would probably even argue that

I invite anyone outside that area who thinks they have good pizza to join me on a trip with one provision. You have to have a queen size bed in your backseat. Because once you taste “New York, pizza” you will lay down in ecstasy for several days.

There is no doubt in my mind that some California pizza may be as good as New England pizza. It just ain’t New York pizza!

You've obviously never had Peach & Pecan Pizza.
Why would anyone want to try such a perverted Bastardization of pizza?

It may taste good, it’s just not pizza.

I think the best pizza I've had in quite a while is our campfire pizza.

My ex-mother-in-law didn't live that far from Wheeling WV, but on the Ohio side of the river. I used to like to get pizza from DiCarlo's Pizza.

You order by the slice. They put your slices in a pizza box, spread cheese and pepperoni on it, and then close the lid so the cheese melts and the pepperoni gets warm. Great stuff. I may have to stop by there in September.

No… you have NY style pizza. You do not have NY pizza.

You folks sure are adding pressure to an old retired pizza guy with connections to a Detroit pizza recipe.

A closed mind never learns anything .

I prefer thin crust "New York" style pizza . there used to be a tiny joint that sold "Sweet Basil" pizza, it was run by a single guy who moved Way Out West , everything about the place was a ringer for the hole in the wall joints I remember from my youth in New York as well as the rest of New England .

Hand tossed pies, good quality ingredients, the real deal .

My favorite is a family owned place from 1960 that still makes these pies on request .

Were your eyes closed you'd think you were in The Bronx, Boston or other New England place .

I cannot imagine peaches & pecans on a pizza but I like the "Hawaiian" style pie so who knows .

I am not very picky, even a frozen pizza tossed on the grill while I mow the yard is great to me (and I can just drive up and check on it periodically while I mow)

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

I'm generally pretty forgiving on pizza quality. But when I get ahold of a good one, I truly appreciate it. There's a little restaurant in a town nearby that does an excellent job with a wood fired oven. I usually hit them up once every 6 weeks right after my haircut appointment in that town.
