How do I tell if my 1L54 transmission is a heavy duty or not. I’m having problems with the Luk clutch pack I got for it.

No idea what a 1L54 transmission is. Should have a M5OD-R1 or M5OD-HD which would be the HD part you would be referring to.

The HD manual trans is allegedly found behind 4.0 SOHC engines after 2001... what engine do you have? Googling that part number brings up an ebay listing for a 3.0 transmission.

You have a M5OD-R1 either way, 1L54 is not really the model

Well I have the 4.0 L and Ford says that by the Vin number it shows it is as a regular transmission but they said that the reference number for the transmission was 1L54

The reason I’m asking is because I ordered a clutch for it and it doesn’t fit right and it was a heavy duty clutch pack

Just order a standard clutch for the vehicle. there's nothing in that truck that's heavy duty LOL. Or whoever you ordered the clutch from sent you the wrong one, either way, just order a standard clutch kit for your truck.

That’s my take on it after as much info searching as I could take. I appreciate all the input!
