I've got an idea for future a project. I have the engine part figured out thanks to the modded 2.8L from the totaled Ranger in my signature, but I still need to figure out the transmission.
I want to run an electronically controlled automatic transmission and set it up with paddle (or push button) shifting. The only transmissions that I know for certain will bolt up behind a 2.8L V6 an meet those requirements are the 4RxxE or 5RxxE found in RBVs. I know they aren't paddle shifted, but since engine is carbureted I'm going to have to run a transmission controller which should provide the capability.
My problem is finding a controller. I've seen listing for the U.S. Shift Quick 4, but it doesn't actually support them according to the maker who I contacted yesterday. Apparently there's a megasquirt controller, but I can't find any reference to it being used with these transmissions.
Anyone aware of a standalone controller for these transmissions? Or another transmission that can be adapted to a cologne engine that would have a controller available?
