Hey there, first time posting here. Looking for some guidance with a transmission swap. I have a 87 ford ranger XLT 2.9L automatic transmission that just took a crap and have exhausted my options of who sells or rebuilds them. Is there other years of ford that have a transmission that would fit mine?
Thank you!
Michael

Welcome, you need to look at the Transmission pan lip and determine if you have a 2 wire or 3 wire A4LD, I believe mid 87 is when the change was made. I believe if you look on the drivers side of the pan lip you will find the plug connector with either 2 or 3 wires. 2 wire is for TCC lock and unlock only, 3 wire is for TCC lock and OD engagement controlled by the ECU.
