what engine we are working with is good too, although I assume both aught to be 2.9l?

Actually, and most people seem to not realize this, we don't need engine details on stock BIIs. The 2.8 and 2.9 were the only engines ever offered in the BII, so as long as you have the year you know what engine it came with.

half way through typing that I thought about that fact, hench why I added the part of assuming its a 2.9....

That being said, you can't automatically rule out the possibility something is not stock on the truck... My old B2 was supposed to have 4.10ls gears in it, and I just found out its got 3.45 open gears, so someone musta replaced the rear end at some point. The only reason I even noticed this was I was cleaning it up to put under my new truck, which Im obviously not doing now... lol
